Chapter 200 Isn’t it difficult to deal with a woman who isn’t interested in your money?
Hugo went upstairs and headed straight to First’s room.
He knocked a couple of times, and the door swung open, revealing First standing there as if
he had been expecting him.
“Still awake?” Hugo asked, looking at him.
First nodded.
“Mind if Ie in for a chat?” Hugo asked.
First opened the door wider, inviting him inside.
This room had been prepared by the old man as a wedding suite for Hugo and Scarlett back home, but Hugo had never stayed here. Just a few days ago, the old man had given the room
to First, moving Hugo’s belongings here.
Seeing Hugo silent, First spoke up, “Looking at this room, does it bring back memories?”
His words carried an undertone, and Hugo lowered his gaze, meeting First’s eyes, which were
fearless and direct.
“More than that, I regret it deeply,” Hugo admitted.
First raised an eyebrow and sat down on the bed.
At that moment, Hugo walked over to him. Despite having thought of many things to say,
none seemed fitting now.
“I know you’re still upset with me, but I want to make my intentions clear. I’m determined to
win back your mom, not on a whim, but with a lifelongmitment. I’ll make amends and
spend my life loving and protecting her.”
Listening to Hugo, his stance had been ambiguousst time, but now, there was no
uncertainty.
“So, what now?” First raised an eyebrow.
“You need to help me, or at least, don’t stand in my way!” Hugo said directly.
He realized that talking to First didn’t require beating around the bush. Being straightforward
and simple was the most effective approach.
“But why should I trust you?”
“Because I’m your dad, and I won’t lie to you,” Hugo replied. “I promise you, on my honor, that
nothing you fear will happen again.”
First looked at him, his eyes flickering.
Hugo’s behavior had beenmendabletely, but First felt that if a man was forgiven too
easily, he might not value it enough.
After a moment of thought, First spoke, “Alright, I won’t stop you. But if Scarlett gets hurt
again, I don’t care who you are. You won’t see her, no matter where you go.”
Despite being just a child, the words from First’s mouth left no room for doubt in Hugo’s
mind.
Looking at him was like seeing a reflection of his younger self.
Hugo smiled, “Don’t worry, you won’t have to do that.”
“Better be,” First replied.
*Are you sure you won’t consider helping me out?” Hugo asked, looking at him.
“Isn’t it more sincere to solve your own problems?” First countered.
Despite his young age, First’s words and gaze were anything but childlike. Sometimes, Hugo
felt like he was facing an equal opponent.
Hugo nodded, “You’re right. I’ll handle the mess I made myself.”
“Then I’ll be watching closely!”
“Alright,” Hugo smiled.
“It’s gettingte. I need to rest. Goodnight,” First said, effectively dismissing him.
Hugo stood up, ready to leave, but suddenly remembered something and turned back, “One
more thing…”
“What is it?”
“Your mom… what does she do for work abroad?” Hugo asked.
First squinted his eyes, mirroring Hugo’s expression, “Why do you ask?”

“She seems… quite wealthy?”
A flicker of light shed in First’s eyes, quickly concealed as he looked at Hugo and asked, “Is
it tough dealing with a woman who doesn’t care about your money?” First retorted with a
smile.
Hugo was thoughtful. “I never intended to use money to win her over; I’m just curious.”

First smiled, “Sometimes it’s best not to say everything you know.”

Hugo studied First, growing more curious about what Scarlett Adler had done.
He nodded, “Alright, I understand. I’ll uncover her mystery myself.”
“Good luck.”
Hugo nodded, “Goodnight.”
“By the way, Second shares my opinion, so you don’t need to seek him out,” Hugo added.
Hugo nced back at First. This kid was far more insightful than he’d imagined.
No, not just insightful.
Wise beyond his years.
He’d never thought a child would make him feel this way.
“Got it.” With that, Hugo turned away and walked out the door.
Once Hugo left, First’s lips curled into a mysterious smile.
It seemed Hugo was suspicious now. It wouldn’t be long before his mom’s identity was
revealed.
Hugo Hodges, let’s see if you can stay as calm then as you are now.

As soon as Hugo left, the door swung open, and Max walked in.
“He’s gone?”

“Yeah!” Alex nodded.

Max finally breathed a sigh of relief. “What did he say?”
Alex nced at him. “If hees looking for you, you’ll find out everything.”
“No way, I hate emotional stuff. Plus, being alone with him just feels weird. The worst part is,
if he asks me any sensitive questions, I’m afraid I might slip up,” Max admitted.
“Just say less, and you won’t go wrong.”
“Is he suspicious of you?”
Alex shook his head.
Max nodded, “That’s good.”
But just as he finished speaking, Alex added, “But he’s suspicious of Scarlett!”
Max paused, “And then?”
“Then… he’ll probably investigate on his own.”
Max pursed his lips, “Well, unless Scarlett admits it herself, he won’t easily find any evidence.”
Alex smirked, exactly.
Alex stared at the message, “…what???”
Tara seemed a bit guilty. “He just asked for your location.”
“And you gave it to him?”
“…Yeah.”
Alex sighed, looking at the chat with Tara, his brow furrowed.
No, now wasn’t the best time to meet Kun.
