Chapter 173 The Dark Web has never experienced a defeat.

    Scarlett seemed calm and collected.

But Nate’s eyes betrayed a flicker of panic. “Why is she here?”

Scarlett nced at him casually. “Don’t worry, she doesn’t know you’re here. She’s here to see me.”

Hearing this, Nate finally rxed. “Oh, that’s good. That’s good.”

“What happened between you two?” Scarlett asked curiously. She had first heard about Tara Green from

    Nate.

Nate’s face inexplicably grew warm, and he blinked his narrow eyes. “What could have happened? That

woman… she’s fierce. Anyone would avoid her.”

    “Then why are you blushing?”

“Who says I’m blushing?” Nate retorted. “It’s just the wine!” He picked up the ss of red wine on the table

and downed it in one gulp.

Scarlett watched him, her lips curling into a smile.

Fine, if you don’t want to talk, that’s okay.

Nate felt even more uncertain under Scarlett’s smile. Suddenly, he remembered something. “By the way, why

is she looking for you? You didn’t upset Dark, did you?”

    “Dark Web, huh?”

Scarlett casually nibbled on her food, speaking slowly, “When I was digging into my dad’s affairs, I had a

couple of run–ins with the Dark Web. They wanted me to join them.”

Her boyfriend cheated with her cousin. In a dr**ken haze, she had stumbled into the wrong…

“So, they sent Tara Green?” Nate asked.

    Scarlett nodded.

    “And you…”

“She doesn’t know who I am yet,” Scarlett said calmly.

Nate squinted, “She doesn’t know you, but you’ve already figured her out?”

“When you mentioned her to me back then, I got curious and looked her up. She’s quite pretty, so I

    remembered her.”

The real daughter returned home only to find her father in prison, her mother gravely…

    Nate was speechless.

What was he supposed to say?

His delicate features suddenly turned serious as he looked at the wine in front of him, poured another ss,

    and downed it.

Having a hacker around is a terrifying thing.

Someone might be trying to find you, but you’ve already uncovered them.

The most important thing is, you casually mention something to her, and she might just figure everything

    out…

Nate was incredibly relieved that he and Scarlett were friends, not enemies.

This is just way too crazy, way too intense!

Clearing his throat, Nate asked, “So, are you nning to tell her?”

Scarlett raised an eyebrow, “I’m not nning to join, so why should I tell her?”

Nate replied, “…So you’re not even going to show up?”

    “This is for the best.”

Nate’s lips curled into a bitter smile, feeling a pang of sympathy for Tara Green for three minutes.

Corning all this way only to be left empty–handed, seen right through, and going home with nothing.

Just then, Scarlett seemed to catch a scent of something and looked up at him, “Why don’t you, as my

representative, go tell her for me?”

Nate responded, “… Pretend I didn’t say anything!”

Seeing his reluctance, Scarlett chuckled and then sized him up, “A legendary healer, scared of a little girl? I’m

curious what happened between you two…”

Nate looked at her and smiled slightly, “Curiosity killed the cat, youngdy. Best not to ask too much.”

“Or maybe, I should ask Tara Green?”

Nate’s eyes widened suddenly. “No way!”

Seeing his strong reaction, Scarlett just smiled without saying a word.

Nate knew she wouldn’t press him; she was just teasing. After knowing Scarlett for so many years, he

understood her well enough. He calmed himself and asked, “Are you close with her?”

“Not really. She lives downstairs from me.”

    Nate was speechless.

He didn’t say it out loud, but he was worried for Tara. Did she even know who she was living next to? Calling

that woman a demon would be an understatement!

Nate pursed his lips and then lowered his voice. “Please… don’t mention me to her, or she’ll lose it.”

There was no hint of a joke on his face when he said this.

Scarlett wasn’t sure if he was serious, but she didn’t push further and nodded.

Everyone has their own secrets. Since he didn’t want to talk about it, Scarlett didn’t want to pry.

“And about her living downstairs… never mind, it’s nothing,” Nate said.

Scarlett watched him, a slight smile on her lips. “Don’t worry, I’ll look after her.”

His narrow eyes showed a hint of awkwardness. “That’s not what I meant…”

Keyue was at a loss for words, and after a moment, Nate decided to drop it. “Fine, do whatever you want. It’s

    none of my business.”

Scarlett just smiled at him without saying anything.

“So, about the Dark Web, are you really not nning to join?” Nate asked. “It’s a rare opportunity.”

Scarlett’s gaze was firm. “I promised my grandpa. At least while he’s still around, I don’t want him to worry.”

“A lost gem in the hacker world,” Natemented.

Scarlett didn’t react much. To her, the world ofputers was just a hobby, not her entire life.

She cared more about the feelings of those around her.

Nate continued, “The Dark Web is a new force that’s risen quickly over the past few years. They’ve already

made a name for themselves, and in thest couple of years, their growth has been even faster. I’ve heard

they’ve recruited several top–notch hackers, really skilled ones. When they sh with other groups, they leave

    nothing but ruins behind.”

    Scarlett listened without much reaction.

“I think Dark Web isn’t just looking for a ce at the table,” Nate said thoughtfully. “They seem to want to be

    the top dog.”

Scarlett continued to listen, still silent.

“If they really want to be the leader, you’ll be their biggest obstacle. Staying neutral might be okay, but if you

show any sign of joining another group, you could be a thorn in their side…” Nate’s expression grew

more serious as he leaned in closer. “They might not try to win you over. They might just… eliminate you.”

Hearing this, Scarlett lifted her gaze, looking at him steadily, without a trace of fear.

    “So, you should be careful.”

Scarlett gave a nonchnt smile. “Everything you say assumes they can find me.”

    Nate was momentarily speechless.

“And besides, when they try to take me out, they’ll have to worry about their own internal issues!”

Nate was again at a loss for words.

“Even so, don’t underestimate them. Dark Web…”

“The hackers we’ve recruited over the past couple of years are really impressive. They haven’t lost a single battle yet,” Nate said nervously. “If you get the chance, you should definitely go up against them. It’ll give you

a better idea of their capabilities and help you prepare.”
