Since returning, Scarlett rarely drove out at night unless necessary for work. Even on her way home from
the office, she often found herself bored, eager to get home, wash up, and rest.
But tonight was different. She was driving with the three little ones, the windows slightly open, and it felt
surprisingly pleasant.
Scarlett realized she hardly ever spent time alone with them.
This atmosphere seemed to excite the three kids, who were unusually animated, each craning their heads
to look at her.
“Scarlett, I heard from Great–Grandpa that you went out to eat with Uncle Lowe today?” Fourth asked.
Scarlett nced at her, “How do you know everything?”
“I care about you, so naturally, I know everything!” Fourth replied, sounding quite justified.
Scarlett chuckled and nodded, “Yes, I did.”
“Do you like Uncle Lowe?” Fourth continued.
As soon as she asked, First and Second also looked at her with bright eyes.
Scarlett thought for a moment and nodded, “Yes, I do.”
The car was filled with silence.
A long, drawn–out silence.

Scarlett could feel the weight of their gazes almost sticking to her.

“So, Scarlett, did you choose our trustee?” Second asked, peeking his head forward with a curious tone.
“Choose?”
“Yeah, you like Trustee Lowe, right? Doesn’t that mean you want to be with him?” Second pressed.
Scarlett suddenly smiled, “I do like him, but it’s the admiration and fondness for a friend, not the pursuit of
a partner.”
The three of them were speechless, “…”
So she had just been teasing them!
Their hearts were practically racing.
Upon hearing this, they finally let out a heavy sigh of relief.
“Scarlett, you’re getting more and more humorous!” Second said with a forced smile.
“Thanks for thepliment,” Scarlett replied, smiling at Second through the rearview mirror.
“Scarlett, so you’re saying you won’t be with Uncle Lowe, right?” Fourth asked.
“Yes, friends are fine, anything else, no!” Scarlett stated clearly.
“Got it…” Fourth nodded, a barely noticeable smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.
Scarlett Adler noticed the subtle change and raised an eyebrow. “What’s up, feeling disappointed?”
“Uh, not at all. While I do really like Uncle Lowe and find him quite charming, I always prioritize your happiness, Mom. That’s what’s most important, everything else is secondary!” Fourth shook her head
earnestly, but Scarlett caught a hint of relief in her eyes.
“Is that really what you think?” Scarlett asked.

Fourth nodded repeatedly, her expression as sincere as could be.
Scarlett wasn’t buying it. She knew her daughter too well to be fooled by her words.
From the moment Fourth asked her first question, Scarlett had an inkling of where the conversation was
headed.
But having her own little hopes was perfectly normal. What child wouldn’t wish for their parents to be
together?
Still, Scarlett didn’t want them to have unrealistic expectations. Sometimes, the bigger the hope, the
bigger the disappointment.
After a moment’s thought, she spoke up, “Remember, you all agreed that my happinesses first. So if I
do meet someone I like, don’t try to stop me!” Scarlett said.
Fourth looked longingly at Scarlett, wondering if this was her way of preparing them for something.
Then, First, who rarely spoke, chimed in, “If that day everes, I won’t stop you.”
Scarlett nced at First through the rearview mirror. Despite his small stature, his gaze was firm, and she
believed every word he said.
“Thank you, sweetheart,” she said with a smile.
“I won’t stop you either, but Scarlett, I think you’re better off shining on your own!” Second added.
“Shining on my own?” Scarlett raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”
“I mean you’re beautiful all by yourself. I feel like no man in this world is good enough for you!” Second said, then added, “But don’t worry, even if you don’t find the right man, you’ve got your son. When I make
money, I’ll take care of you and make sure yourter years are super happy.”
Scarlett couldn’t help butugh and cry at the same time.

Second’s words made her feel like she was aging right before her eyes.
But she had to admit, the ttery was quite pleasing.
“Yeah!” Scarlett nodded in agreement. “I’m d to hear you say that, but remember, don’t forget your mom
when you get a wife.”
“Wives are just a passing cloud!” Second said with a grin.
Whether true or not, Scarlett was quite pleased with his words.
At this moment, Fourth rolled her eyes at First and Second, thinking they were such sycophants!
Hmph, she still believed that Dad would definitely win Mom over!
Fourth nced out the window and suddenly remembered something. “Scarlett, does Dad have any
favorite foods or drinks?”
“Uh.” Scarlett was stumped by this question. “I’m not really sure.”
Fourth turned her head, “Didn’t you guys get married?”
“It was too brief, didn’t have time to find out!” Scarlett exined.
Fourth shook her head helplessly. “Sigh, you guys are like ying house.”
Scarlett was speechless, “…”
Just then, Fourth spotted a cake shop and suggested, “Scarlett, how about buying some sweets for Dad?”
Sweets?
Scarlett remembered that Hugo wasn’t into those at all.
But Scarlett wasn’t quite sure what Hugo liked to eat.

Looking at Fourth, she said, “As long as you buy it, he’ll probably be happy.”
“Then stop the car, Scarlett! I want to go buy something!” Fourth eximed.
Scarlett immediately pulled over, and Fourth hopped out, heading straight for the cake shop.
Watching her dash off with such excitement, Scarlett felt a tiny pang of jealousy. But mixed with that was
a sense of warmth, proud of Fourth’s thoughtfulness.
So, Scarlett got out of the car too and followed her inside.
Inside the shop, Fourth looked a bit troubled by the variety of cakes. “Which one should I get?”
Scarlett pointed to one of them. “How about this one? He likes things with a bit of a bitter taste.”
Fourth turned to Scarlett, “Really?”
“You can give it a try, but I think he’ll like anything you choose for him!”
Fourth smiled, “Let’s go with this one!”
So Scarlett paid for the cake.
Meanwhile, First and Second were off to the side, giving her all sorts of looks, trying to remind Fourth not
to make it too obvious!
“Aren’t you worried your mom might get jealous?” Scarlett teased.
But Fourth acted as if he hadn’t heard a thing.
After buying the cake, they continued their journey to the hospital.
It was only about a fifteen–minute drive.
Since it was nighttime, the hospital wasn’t crowded. Scarlett parked the car near the main entrance and
got out, watching them.
