Chapter 82 Is it human or ghost?
Fourth and Second stepped forward, looking at the unconscious Scarlett.
Even though they knew she was out of danger, Scarlett had always been so strong. Seeing her lying so helplessly on the
hospital bed was a first.
Their eyes welled up with tears.
“Scarlett,” Fourth murmured softly, leaning in to gently blow on her face. “Does it hurt? Let me make it better.”
This gesture brought tears to William’s eyes as well.
Hugo nced away, his dark eyes showing a hint of emotion.
“It’s okay, remember they said Scarlett will be fine,” Second tried tofort them.
But Fourth couldn’t hold back the tears.
“Come on, Fourth, your mom’s going to be alright. Don’t worry too much,” William said, trying to soothe her.
Unexpectedly, Fourth lifted her little face, “Grandpa, Scarlett has never been this vulnerable before. It breaks my heart.”
William paused, realizing that Scarlett had indeed always been the strong mother and determined granddaughter. She had
never been like this before.
Even though it hurt and made him sad, he didn’t want to see the kids like this.
“It’ll be okay, everything will get better,” William said reassuringly.
“Come on, Fourth, if you keep crying, Grandpa will be sad too,” Second chimed in.
As the little man of the house, even though he felt heartache and sadness, he had to keep it together.
Fourth finally managed to hold back his tears.
At this moment, Hugo spoke up, “Grandpa, she’ll need some time to wake up. I’ve arranged a ce next door for you to

William still looked upset. “No need, I’ll stay here with Scarlett.”
“I want to stay here too,” Fourth insisted.
“I’m not leaving either,” Second added.
It was clear how much they worried about and relied on Scarlett.
Hugo could imagine how happy they were as a family together, and yet he wasn’t part of it.
Looking at William, Hugo said, “Grandpa, there are two kids here. They’re still young and growing. Do you really want them
to stay up all night with you?”
You have to hand it to Hugo. He really knew how to hit William’s weak spot with just one sentence.
William looked at the two little ones. “Fourth, Second, you two go rest next door. Grandpa will stay here.”
“Grandpa, I want to stay here and watch over Scarlett,” Fourth whined.
“Be good and listen. I’ll let you know when your mom wakes up,” William assured.
“But…”
“Or you can go home and rest,” William offered them a choice.
“Alright then,” Fourth reluctantly agreed, choosing the former option. After all, staying here meant she could not only watch over her mom but also see… Dad.
She definitely didn’t want to leave.
William then turned to Second. “Take your sister to rest.”
Second knew this was non–negotiable and nodded. “Got it, Grandpa.”
William then looked at Hugo, and even though he wasn’t thrilled about it, he said, “You take them to rest.”

Fourth and Second obediently followed along.
As they reached the door, William suddenly said, “Hugo, this child means the world to Scarlett. Don’t get any ideas, or I’ll
fight you with everything I’ve got.”
Hugo nced at the two kids and replied, “Don’t worry, I wouldn’t do anything so despicable.”
William didn’t look at him again, and Hugo led the kids out.
The room was just next door.
Hugo brought them inside, where there were two clean–looking beds.
He said to them, “You can rest here. I’ll call you when your mom wakes up.”
Both nodded in agreement.
As Hugo was about to leave, Fourth suddenly grabbed his hand.
The soft, tiny hand touching Hugo’s gave him a strange feeling deep inside.
He looked at her.
“Uncle, lift me,” Fourth said adorably, ncing at the bed, which was a bit too high for her to climb on easily.
Hugo understood what she meant, but looking at her cute, innocent face tugged at his heartstrings.
Hugo bent down to pick her up, carefully cing her on the bed.
“Thanks, mister,” Fourth said with a smile.
Hugo looked at her and smiled back gently.
Then, his gaze shifted to Second.
Second quickly spoke up, “I can do it.” With that, she scrambled onto the bed.

Hugo watched, unsure of what to say.
Up until now, everything was just his spection. Even though it seemed logical, Hugo didn’t want to get too excited
before seeing the results.
“You guys rest for now. I’m going to check on something,” Hugo said before getting up and leaving the room.
There were many things he wanted to say and ask, but Hugo wasn’t sure if they already knew or what their opinions and
attitudes toward him were.
He needed to sort things out.
And he needed to give them some time.
As soon as Hugo left, Second turned to Fourth.
“You’re being way too obvious,” Second remarked.
“No, I’m not,” Fourth denied.
Second rolled her eyes at her. “Don’t make it seem like we’re epting him too easily. Scarlett would be upset.”
“Do
you
think the old man knows we’re his kids?” Fourth asked.
Second thought for a moment and said, “I feel like he does. The way he looks at us is… strange.”
“I think so too. He knows.”
“Well, let’s wait until Scarlett wakes up tomorrow. We’ll find out then,” Second suggested. “For now, let’s text our brother
so he doesn’t worry.”
Fourth nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, on the other side of town.

First, dressed in all ck with a hood, arrived at the designated spot near the bustlingmercial center.
Seeing the message from Second, he felt relieved.
He looked up at the ck SUV in front of him and checked the license te against the photo Tara Green had sent him.
Once he confirmed it, he approached the vehicle.
He knocked on the door.
Tara was inside, ying on her phone. Hearing the knock, she nced sideways but saw no one.
She went back to her phone.
First knocked again.
Tara heard the noise, looked again, and still saw no one.
What the heck?
At this hour…
Could it be something spooky?
Though Tara didn’t believe in ghosts, she couldn’t help but feel a bit scared. She decided not to open the window.
Just then, First popped up, his head bouncing into view. “Open the door.”
Seeing a kid, Tara Green was startled, cracking the window open just a bit. “Who are you, a ghost?”
“Tara, if you don’t open the door, I’m leaving!”
He knew her?
Finally, Tara opened the door, and First reached out, opened it wider, and climbed into the car using the step.
