Chapter 80 He is our dad.
Inside the hospital, Hugo Hodges felt a nagging sense of unease as Scarlett Adler was wheeled into the
emergency room.
Watching the light above the operating room door, he feared something might happen to Scarlett. He stepped aside and called the hospital director.
Soon, the director arrived with a team of specialists. After a brief exchange with Hugo, they entered the operating room.
Hugo waited in the hallway outside.
Five minutes…
Ten minutes…
Time ticked by slowly, each minute feeling like an eternity to Hugo.
After about twenty minutes, the director emerged from the room. Hugo immediately approached him. “Director, how is she?”
The director replied, “Mr. Hodges, rest assured, she’s out of danger. It’s mostly superficial injuries, a few minor fractures, and a concussion. No internal organs were damaged, but she’ll need to rest due to the concussion.”
Hearing this, the weight lifted from Hugo’s shoulders. “Okay, I understand. Thank you, Director, foring
down here personally.”
“It’s no trouble at all. Mr. Hodges’ affairs are our hospital’s affairs,” the director said.
The hospital’s investments heavily relied on Hugo Hodges; he was their major benefactor.
Hugo Hodges stared at the operating room, a hint of worry in his eyes.
“Don’t worry, it’s mostly superficial injuries. It will take some time to clean the wounds, but she’ll be out soon. Mr. Hodges, would you like to wait in my office? I have some excellent tea there,” the director offered.
Hugo Hodges snapped back to reality and declined, “No, I’d rather wait here. It’ll put my mind at ease. You go
ahead and take care of your work.”
The director nodded, “Alright then. I’ve already informed everyone here to do their best. If you need anything,
feel free to call me. I’ll be in the hospital.”
Hugo Hodges nodded in acknowledgment.
The director then got up and headed upstairs.
Once the director was gone, Hugo Hodges walked over to a bench and sat down, letting out a long sigh.
He pulled out his phone and without quite knowing how oponed Courth’s WhatsAnn Hugo Hodges felt a

Looking at her most recent picture, Fourth was smiling brightly and cutely. As he looked at it, the corners of his mouth couldn’t help but turn upward.
Hugo Hodges felt a mix of emotions. He wasn’t sure if Fourth was his daughter, but based on the timeline, she should be…
He was also worried, afraid that it was all just wishful thinking!
He urgently needed to ask Scarlett Adler to clear things up.
He wanted to send Fourth a text, but after typing and editing many messages, he deleted them all.
Just as he was about to put his phone away, it rang. It was Henry Fallon.
Hugo walked aside to answer it.
“Hello.”
“Boss, the car has been brought back, and the scene has been taken care of. After a quick inspection, it seems the brake lines were cut, which caused the ident. However, we’ll need a thorough examination to know for sure,” Henry said. “I suspect Ms. Adler realized the problem, which is why she drove to such a remote area, trying to find a ce to force the car to stop. The driver’s appearance was idental, leading to
the crash.”
Hugo listened, his brow furrowed. The brake lines were cut, meaning someone wanted Scarlett’s life!
It was only by luck that Scarlett survived. Otherwise, who knows what would have happened!
Who was it?
Who wanted Scarlett Adler dead?
“Ms. Adler, do you have any enemies?” Henry Fallon suddenly asked. As he was at the scene handling things, he understood the importance of the matter more than anyone.
Hugo Hodges pursed his lips and after a long pause, he finally spoke, “This matter must be thoroughly investigated, at all costs.”
“Understood,” Henry Fallon replied. “Even if we didn’t investigate, this incident has already alerted the police. They will definitely dig into it and find out everything.”
As he spoke, Henry Fallon remembered something. “However, how did you know Ms. Adler was in danger?”
Speaking of this, Hugo Hodges recalled the phone call.
He could tell it was a boy’s voice. He was crying and saying that Scarlett Adler was in danger…
But how did he know?
“I’ll exin this matter after I figure it out. You go handle things first,” Hugo Hodges said.
“Alright, I understand.”

After hanging up the phone, Hugo Hodges pondered for a moment before calling Fourth.

“Uncle,” as soon as the call connected, Fourth’s childish, tearful voice could be heard.
Hugo Hodges felt a tremor in his heart, but he forced himself to say, “We’re already at the hospital. Your mommy is out of danger,” Hugo said.
“Thank you, Uncle… Thank you for saving Mommy,” Fourth said.
Hugo was silent for a moment, unsure of what to say. “It’s… it’s veryte. Are you stilling tonight? Or should I have someone pick you up tomorrow?”
“We’re going, we’re going. Brother can’t wait at home. We have to go.”
Brother…
Maybe they really were his children.
“Then I’ll have someone pick you up.”
“No need. Grandpa will take us,” Fourth said.
Hugo thought for a moment and nodded. “Alright, be careful on the way.’
After hanging up, Hugo held his phone, feeling something wild trying to burst out of his chest. He wanted tough but desperately held it back.
Until there were definite results, he didn’t want to show his emotions!
He turned back to look at the emergency room doors.
Scarlett Adler, don’t disappoint me!
At home.
Fourth hung up the phone and looked at First and Second.
The call was on speaker, and they had heard everything that was said.
“We can’t hide this. We need to tell Grandpa,” said Fourth.
First nodded. “Yeah.”
“Let’s go then.” Fourth stood up, ready to leave.
“Wait,” First said.
Fourth and Second turned back to him. “What is it?”
“There’s something I forgot to tell you,” First said.
The two exchanged nces, then focused on First.

First pondered for a long time before finally speaking. “The DNA results are in…”
Before he could finish, both of their hearts leaped into their throats.
Fourth didn’t say anything, just stared at him intently.
“When did theye in?” Second asked.
“Tonight, at the same time I found out about Mom. I didn’t have a chance to tell you,” First said, looking at
them.
Fourth and Second were being tortured by the suspense. He might as well just tell them the result directly. This buildup was testing their nerves.
“The result… what is it?” Second asked, trying to sound calm.
Fourth didn’t even want to hear it, wanting to cover his ears and run away.
First paused, then said, “The result is… he is our dad.”
