Chapter 30 His heart was in turmoil.
Whether there was love, Hugo Hodges couldn’t say.
Over the years, many women had been around him, but most were after his money and status. However,
when thepany faced difficulties, it was Tiana Young who stayed by his side without a singleint.
Even after thepany went bankrupt, she never acted superior and continued to be his right-hand, handling
all his affairs meticulously.
Hugo knew what Tiana wanted, and he had even considered marrying someone like her. At least they didn’t
dislike each other, and she was independent and not clingy.
So, he turned a blind eye to all the rumors.
Firstly, it wouldn’t stop young women from throwing themselves at him, and secondly, he had thought about
making it real. But over the years, he alwayscked a certain spark with Tiana.
Old Hodges got angry when he didn’t speak.
“If you really have feelings for that girl, I won’t stop you, but Hugo, then stop messing with Scarlett,” Old
Hodges said. “Scarlett is a good girl. I was the one who chose her for you, but things didn’t go as I nned,
and it hurt Scarlett. Old Adler almost fell out with me over it.”
“Scarlett is the Adler Family’s only hope now, Hugo. If you still respect me as your grandfather, then don’t hurt
Scarlett anymore, and don’t let your Grandpa Adler worry,” the old man said.
Hugo Hodges pursed his lips, knowing that the old man was serious.
Even when he secretly divorced Scarlett Adler years ago, the old man didn’t speak such harsh words, despite ignoring him for two months.
“I understand, Grandpa,” Hugo Hodges replied.
The old man looked at him and sighed helplessly, “Hugo, Grandpa doesn’t want you to always do as I say, but
I hope you never regret the decisions you make in your life.”
But what was the reality?
Hugo Hodges’ heart was in turmoil.
Tiana Young returned home.
After taking a shower, she sat on the bed, lost in thought.
Putting all the events of the day together, she gradually began to understand.
It wasn’t that Hugo Hodges remembered she wanted to eat at that restaurant, but because Scarlett Adler was
there.
It wasn’t that the Rising Sun project was so outstanding, but because Scarlett Adler worked there.
In short, it was all because of Scarlett Adler.
Thinking about it, she found itughable.
She had always assumed Scarlett Adler was trying to climb up the socialdder through Hugo Hodges, but
now she realized they had this kind of rtionship.
He had always found the name Scarlett Adler familiar, but couldn’t quite ce it. That was because the
Scarlett Adler she had heard of was from a rural background, average-looking,cked taste, and had a boisterous personality. In short, she radiated a strong country vibe, so she hadn’t paid much attention and hadn’t connected that name with the person before her.
Thinking about this, Tiana Young felt somewhat frustrated.
Considering the old Hodges’ attitude towards Scarlett Adler, she felt the distance between herself and Hugo Hodges had suddenly stretched so far.
In her room, she paced back and forth, thinking for a long time before finally calling Hugo Hodges.
The call was answered quickly.

“Hugo, how is old Hodges doing?” Tiana Young asked.
“He’s fine now, already asleep,” Hugo Hodges said.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know such a situation would ur today, and I didn’t know about your rtionship with Scarlett Adler… I was being presumptuous,” Tiana Young apologized.
“This has nothing to do with you,” Hugo Hodges said. “Don’t take it to heart.”
“Actually, you could have just told me about your rtionship with Ms. Adler,” Tiana Young said. “That way, I
wouldn’t have done so many things.’
Hugo Hodges was silent for a moment. “There’s nothing to say. Whatever happened between us is in the
past.”

“You mean…”
“Tiana, have someone else handle the Rising Sun Tech matter tomorrow,” Hugo Hodges said suddenly.
“Huh?” Tiana Young was taken aback. “Didn’t you say you wanted to handle this personally from now on?”
“I’m busy. I have other things to deal with. You can handle this from now on,” he said.
Was it what Tiana thought it was?
Was Hugo Hodges trying to distance himself from Scarlett Adler?
The little me of hope that had just been extinguished seemed to ignite again. Tiana Young responded,
“Okay, I understand. I’ll arrange it.”
“That’s all. I have things to take care of here.” With that, Hugo Hodges hung up the phone.
Tiana Young held her phone, an indescribable excitement in her heart.
Having been around Hugo Hodges for so long, could she really not understand his intentions?
Hugo Hodges was determined to keep his distance from her.

Thinking about this, Tiana Young took a deep breath, hoping that fate would favor her just once.

Scarlett Adler and William Adler went out for dinner, and although they didn’t say with whom, the three kids, through subtle questioning and feigned ignorance, roughly figured it out.
Looking at the photos, Fourth Adler posted, “So, this person might be our great-grandfather?”
“He and our grandfather were lifelong friends,” Second Adler added.
Fourth Adler said, “I have a feeling this is almost certainly the case.”
The three of them could imagine a whole dramatic love story.
Just as they were discussing it enthusiastically, they heard a sound outside the door. First Adler quickly put
away his phone, and the three of them pretended nothing was happening.
“Scarlett, Grandpa, you’re back?” Fourth Adler rushed over.
“Why aren’t you kids asleep yet?” Scarlett Adler asked.
“Why are you back sote?” Fourth retorted.
“Grandpa and I ran into a bit of trouble, that’s why we’rete,” Scarlett Adler exined.
“We were worried when you didn’te back, so we stayed up,” Fourth said.
At that moment, First approached. “Scarlett, is everything alright?”
“It’s fine, you all have school tomorrow, go get some rest,” Scarlett Adler replied.
“Okay,” they responded obediently before heading back to their rooms.
In the living room, William Adler frowned, still looking worried.
“It’s okay, Grandpa, the doctor said Grandpa Hodges is fine, don’t worry,” Scarlett Adler reassured him.
“Today, I was really afraid Old Hodges would pass away. And I’m still keeping the truth about their children
from him. I just… I feel so guilty,” William Adler said.
Seeing how genuinely remorseful William Adler was, Scarlett Adler suggested, “Why don’t we tell Grandpa
Hodges the truth?”
William Adler paused, looking at Scarlett Adler in surprise.

“I don’t want you to feel burdened,” she said.
William Adler thought for a moment, then shook his head. “No, it’s not the right time yet. We have to wait until
Hugo Hodges gets married and settles down before we can say anything.” As he spoke, he looked at
“Scarlett,” her mom said, “Grandpa didn’t mean to pressure you with what he said.”

Scarlett smiled softly. “I know.”
“Alright, it’s gettingte. Get some rest, and I’ll head to the hospital early tomorrow to check on that old man.”
Scarlett nodded and returned to her room.
Meanwhile, the three little ones were each eavesdropping at their doors, having heard the entire conversation
in the living room.
The three siblings had a group chat, and Fourth Adler was the first to speak. “If I heard correctly, something
might have happened to our great-grandfather?”
