Chapter 1 Divorce, the sooner the better.
“Congrattions, Ms. Adler! You’re having twins!”
Scarlett Adler was stunned. “Pregnant? With twins?”
“Yes, you’re the first one this week to find out carrying twins! Congrattions!”
Leaving the hospital, Scarlett stared at the iprehensible images on the ultrasound report, her mind still
reeling.
She and Hugo had only been intimate once, and she’s pregnant? With twins?
Before she could fully process the surprise, her phone rang. She picked it up, and a picture message filled her
screen: Hugo Hodges on a yacht with a woman in a bikini. Seeing the picture, Scarlett’s eyes instantly zed
with fury.
She walked to the roadside and hailed a taxi. “To the harbor!”
Half an hourter-
Watching Hugo Hodgesughing and drinking champagne with another woman, she walked over, snatched
the champagne ss from the woman’s hand, and sshed the contents directly onto her.
“Ah! What are you doing? You crazy woman!” the bikini-d girl shrieked. Seeing the woman in front of her,
she suddenly understood why Hugo was doing this. Her expression turned mocking. “Where did you crawl out
from, you little hick? Do you even know where you are?”
“I’m the legitimate wife of the man sitting across from you. Do I really need to introduce myself?” Scarlett
asked, her eyes burning with anger, yet radiating an inexplicable calmness andposure.
“You-”
“If
you want to take my ce, shouldn’t you wait until I’m divorced? Otherwise, you’ll always be a dirty little secret. Or, I could call the cops right now!” Scarlett said, pulling out her phone, her eyes full of warning.
The bikini girl was about to make her debut in the entertainment industry and didn’t want to be involved in a
scandal. She nced at Hugo, who remained indifferent, devoid of emotion.
“I’ll go change!” the bikini girl said and quickly left.
Scarlett walked over and sat opposite Hugo, her face cold, “Had enough fun?”
“As long as you’re around, I’ll never have enough!” he said, a yful, cynical smile gracing his handsome face.
“Do you hate me that much?”
“A country bumpkin like you? What makes you think I could ever like you?” Hugo retorted, amusementcing
his voice.
Scarlett frowned, a hint of anxiety appearing on her usually unadorned face. “Then why did you marry me?”
“If it weren’t for the friendship between our grandfathers, do you think we’d be sitting here face to face like
this?” Hugo didn’t even bother to sugarcoat the truth.
“So, you’ll never like me?”
“Don’t even mention the word ‘like.’ It’s insulting!”
A flicker of hurt shed across Scarlett’s fair, delicate face. She clenched her fists. “In that case, let’s…
divorce!”
Hugo paused his swirling of the wine ss. “You’d agree to that?”
“Since you’ll never… never be faithful to this marriage, why should I cling to it?!”
“For once, you’re being sensible. But what about Grandpa?”
“Don’t worry, I won’t say anything. Once the divorce is finalized, you can exin it however you want!”
Hugo looked at her with a newfound interest. This girl, from a rural background, was pretty enough, but too rigid and headstrong, pletelycking in charm.

If they could part ways amicably, that would be ideal. “I’ll give you somepensation…”
“No need!” Scarlett interrupted directly. “I’m not short of money, and I won’t take yours!”
Ambitious for someone so young.
Hugo didn’t push it. “Alright, I respect your decision!”
The negotiation concluded, Scarlett stood to leave, but stopped after a few steps, turning back to look at
him, “If…”
Hugo looked at her, “Don’t tell me you’re regretting it!”
He wouldn’t be a good father anyway!
Scarlett clenched her fists. “Hugo Hodges, I wish you and I never have to see each other again for the rest of
our lives. The divorce papers, the sooner, the better!” With that, she turned and left.
Six yearster.
A ne from London touched down smoothly in Port City.
As soon as she got off the ne, Scarlett Adler’s phone rang. She answered it while walking, a ck baseball
cap obscuring half of her face. A ck casual outfit concealed her shapely figure. Although her face was
hidden, her aura was even more outstanding than that of a celebrity.
What caught people’s attention were the three children following behind her, each wearing sunsses,
exuding an air of understated elegance. They pushed their suitcases following Scarlett, making it difficult to
determine if they were her children, as she didn’t even nce back once.
Nearing the exit, they spotted someone holding up a photograph high above the crowd. Second Adler slid his
sunsses down a little and approached, carefully examining the picture.
This photo…
He looked up at the person who was still engrossed in her phone. “Scarlett, is that you in the photo?”
The photo showed a somewhat rustic, yet stubbornly determined face. Something felt off, but it definitely
had the vibe of a country girl.
Scarlett snapped back to reality and frowned slightly upon seeing the photo. “That’s me.”
“Wow, that photo of you… it’s really something. Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were a
refugee!” quipped her own son, Second Adler.
Scarlett Adler didn’t mind at all. The photo was taken when she was still in the countryside, just to have a
record. She didn’t like taking photos, and that was the only one on her phone, so she used it when setting
things up. She didn’t see anything wrong with it.
The person who was there to pick her up heard their conversation, his gazending on Scarlett. “You… are
Scarlett Adler, Ms. Adler?”
“Hello!” Scarlett nodded.
The person looked incredulously at the photo he was holding, then at the person in front of him, his eyes
filled with disbelief.
Fourth Adler, naturally outgoing, chimed in. “Scarlett, that photo will make people think you had stic
surgery!”
“Don’t talk nonsense. Scarlett is naturally beautiful!” First Adler said, patting Fourth on the back of the head.
He was always the most protective of Scarlett.
The person picking her up looked at the three little ones, hearing them call her “Scarlett” and assuming they were her younger siblings, he said with a smile, “Ms. Adler, your younger siblings are so adorable.”
Scarlett nced at the three children. She was supposed to have twins, but somehow it turned out to be triplets during ater check-up. However, havingcked familial love in her own life, she felt nothing but joy and gratitude for their arrival.
“Just a moment, let me see them off, and I’ll be right back!” Scarlett didn’t bother exining their
0.30
rtionship.
“Alright, alright, take your time!” the person said with a smile.
“No need, Scarlett. Grandpa’s already outside. We can go ourselves!”
“Are you sure?”
The three nodded in unison.
Scarlett Adler didn’t insist, trusting their self-reliance. “Alright then, tell Grandpa I’ll be back soon!”
“OK!” Second said.
So, Scarlett followed the person picking her up towards the exit, where a car was already waiting.
Watching them leave, First said to the other two, “Let’s go, we’re going home too.”
“Brother, I need to use the restroom!” Fourth said.
First looked around. There was a restroom not far away. “Alright, go ahead, and hurry back.”
Fourth handed her Barbie doll to First. “Take care of Little Five for me, I’ll be right back.”
The Adler Family rule was to keep names simple in order of age. “First”, “Second”, and when it came to the
third child, Scarlett Adler, hating the number three, gave the name “Third” to the dog. That’s how Fourth Adler
got her name. Unwilling to be the youngest, Fourth ranked her Barbie doll fifth, so she wouldn’t be the
youngest.
Fourth finished in the restroom and carefully straightened her clothes and hair before heading out. As she rounded a corner, she identally bumped into someone and fell to the ground. “Ouch.”
Hugo Hodges heard the sounding from below: a beautifully dressed little girl was sitting on the ground.
