Chapter 1084

Grace’s expression finally eased a little when she heard Jason’s voice.

Sure enough, if she didn’t threaten him a little, he would never speak to her honestly.

“And what did you say after that?”

Grace wasn’t about to let even the smallest detail slip past.

After all, she had noticed Aurora’s attitude just now.

If Jason hadn’t said something, why else would her daughter be suspicious?

    That was simply unrealisticughable, even.

Jason’s mind went nk at her question, unable to recall exactly what he had said earlier.

The only thing he was certain of was that he hadn’t said anything out of line.

So, when faced with her questioning, he could still push back with confidence.

“Madam Grace, I don’t know what someone else might have told you, but I can assure you, I didn’t say anything I shouldn’t have.

“That’s something you can be absolutely certain of.”

At that, Grace lifted a brow.

Even over the phone, she could hear the conviction in his voice.

It seemed this really had nothing to do with him.

“Alright, then there’s nothing more to discuss.”

She followed the p with a sweetener. “As long as you handle what I’ve assigned you, you’ll get your share of the rewards.”

Jason broke into a relieved smile, giving his assurance with full sincerity. “Don’t worry, Madam Grace, I know my boundaries.

“After working by your side all these years, you know exactly the kind of man I am.”

On that point, Grace truly couldn’t disagree.

She wasn’t a fool–she knew Jason’s words were nothing more than a show of loyalty.

Still, she had to admit he had a point.

After all, he had been by her side for so many years. If he were truly ipetent, she wouldn’t have kept

    him around this long.

    Besides, she trusted his character.

“Alright, I understand. Just focus onpleting what I’ve assigned you. I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll hang up now.”

    Jason replied that he understood.

Only after Grace ended the call did he let out a long sigh into the phone.

Those two women were nearly impossible to please.

He had never realized it before.

Dealing with Aurora had been trouble enough, and now he still had to exin himself to Grace.

Both of them were equally difficult, one no easier to handle than the other. Just thinking about it made his head pound.

Still, it didn’t matter. The greater the risk, the greater the reward.

In all his years at the Walton Corporation, his sry had always been much higher than most people’s.

His pay matched the effort he put in.

With that in mind, hope flickered back to life on his face.

All he had to do was keep looking forward and do his job well–there was nothing to worry about.

As for Grace, he could still carry out her instructions properly.

Whatever else could be said about her, her principles were sound.

At least she hadn’t done anything truly criminal, so even if he was helping with her affairs, his conscience felt no guilt.

Working by her side was something he could continue to do.

Meanwhile, after hanging up the phone, Grace turned her attention back to the report Aurora had brought her earlier.

She realized her daughter truly had a sharp mind for business.
