It felt like something bad was about to happen.
Tessa suddenly thought back to the look Julian gave her when he was in jail.
That look alone made her feel like he wasn’t actually insane.
Butter, the police had run evaluations and confirmed he did have mental issues.
Otherwise, his sentencing wouldn’t have been dyed this long.
But now, Tessa started to question everything.
Could it be… that the police had made a mistake too?
Grace let out a casual “Oh?” full of interest. “So, what exactly is going on?
“Why don’t you go ahead and tell me directly?”
There was a faint, unreadable smile at the corner of her lips. “Don’t worry, I’m very reasonable. There’s no
need to fear I’ll take it out on you.
“If it really is something unspeakable, I can be quite understanding.
“So you don’t need to worry.”
The butler nced at Albert, and only after seeing him nod did he finally dare to speak up.
“Actually, Mr. Julian–he was never mentally ill.”
The moment those wordsnded, Tessa shot to her feet with a gasp. “Are you serious?”
Her expression was filled with shock, her entire demeanor teetering on the edge of hysteria.
Her reaction was so extreme that everyone around began to feel something was off.
Why was Tessa reacting so strongly to this news?
Even Grace narrowed her eyes and asked in a low voice, “Tessa, what’s going on with you?”
Only then did Tessae back to her senses.
Seeing the odd looks the others were giving her, she realized she might’ve gone overboard.
Trying to cover her slip, she said awkwardly, “It’s nothing. I just didn’t expect it. I mean, isn’t this good news for both of you?”
She let out a strainedugh, but it sounded more like she was trying to cover something up.
Albert chuckled along. “Good news, of course it’s good news. But the only problem now is–he’s already
gone.”
This time, Tessa couldn’t sit still.
“How could you not even keep an eye on him? Don’t you know he’s supposed to pay for what he did?”
Tessa’s expression twisted with fury.
At that moment, everyone present began to realize something wasn’t right.
Why was Tessa reacting so strongly to the news of Julian’s escape?
It was as if she was truly terrified that he had gotten away.
But what reason would she have to fear that?
What benefit was there in being so upset?
Or was there something else–something Tessa was hiding?
Albert couldn’t help but ask, “Miss Tessa, is there something wrong? I know my son has done some unforgivable things to you, but this level of agitation–it’s starting to seem a little unusual, don’t you
think?”
Albert’s mental state was already on edge, so he no longer bothered with subtlety.
Whatever was on his mind, he said it directly.
He’d finally learned–keeping things bottled up never helped anyone.
Tessa hadn’t expected Albert to be so blunt.
She had nned to brush it off, but clearly, Albert’s years of business experience gave him a sharper eye than a young woman just starting out.
She didn’t stand a chance at hiding anything.
