Chapter 1040
Now, she had to personally send him to prison.
Although she hadn’t thought much of it at first, her original n was just to pin the matter on Julian.
As for the rest, she hadn’t given it much thought at all.
But clearly, Grace didn’t see it that way.
It was as if she wouldn’t be satisfied until Tessa saw Julian behind bars with her own eyes.
Tessa didn’t quite understand Grace’s reasoning, but she had no choice but to go along with it.
After all, she was still under Grace’s guidance and hadn’t gained full independence yet.
Grace treated her well, and there was no need to fall out with her now.
As the two set off, they didn’t exchange many words along the way.
Amold stood at the house, watching the car’s rear disappear, his expression a bit tense.
He didn’t know how to bring this up with Grace.
He kept feeling that the eldest daughter had changed far too much recently.
Compared to before, she waspletely different.
At times, she didn’t even bother pretending anymore.
The thought made Arnold feel it was almostughable.
After all, she wasn’t his daughter.
But whenparing Grace’s eldest and the second daughter, he couldn’t help but feel a chill for the
younger one.
She was married off early, only to be ruined by her sister’s man.
And now, her sister’s heart was full of deceit.
Arnold felt a headacheing on, but all he could do was take things one step at a time.
In the future, the only thing he could do was be kinder to Aurora.
As for Tessa, he would just focus on doing his job.
She had Grace’s affection, while Aurora had to rely on herself for everything.
If she returned home and couldn’t even get a bit of warmth from her own family, wouldn’t that be even
more heartbreaking?
Tessa and Grace arrived at the Hayes residence.
But strangely, the gates were tightly shut.
It was clear they had no intention of opening the door for either of them.
Tessa wore a chic tweed dress, held a delicate handbag, and stood under the sun with an umbre. The
sunlight was so harsh she could barely keep her eyes open.
She said impatiently, “Mom, what’s going on with the Hayeses?
“It’s clearly the third day already. Don’t they know to bring him out on their own?”
They actually made them stand here waiting–it was truly inconsiderate.
The rest of herints she kept to herself.
She could tell Grace was already in a bad mood, and she didn’t want to add fuel to the fire.
Tessa had at least that much tact.
Still, she didn’t understand why the Hayeses were acting like this.
Everything had been properly discussed before, and Albert wasn’t the type to go back on his word.
Grace’s expression grew darker, and even under the sunlight, her displeasure was obvious.
In the end, she said coldly, “Let’s wait a bit longer.”
She told the driver to go knock again.
She wanted to see exactly what the Hayeses meant by this.
The driver didn’t argue and walked up to knock on the door. “Is anyone home?
“We’re here to follow through on the agreement. The police department is already informed.”
As he spoke, he kept knocking.
But there was no response from inside.
He pressed his ear against the door for a while but heard nothing.
It struck him as strange.
What was going on with this family?
