But things like that were easier said than done.

Lost in thought, Joseph drifted off.

The caretaker stood by, looking a bit uneasy. “Sir is there anything you need me to do?”

She had taken quite a sum from Judy, and just standing around doing nothing made her feel ufortable.

She was an honest woman, so to feel more at ease, she wanted to keep herself busy.

That finally brought Joseph back to his senses.

He nced at her in, simple face and gave a slight nod. “Alright, pour me a ss of water.”

He could tell she wasn’t someone who liked being idle.

Since she was here now, might as well let it be.

Once he was fully recovered, he’d settle the score with everyone.

But over on Aurora’s side, after injuring Joseph, she felt absolutely no guilt.

She knew Lucas would take care of everything and make sure no evidence was left behind.

She had full confidence in his efficiency.

When Aurora arrived at Walton Corporation, she was immediately summoned to Grace’s office.

She froze in her seat, giving no response.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to go–she just didn’t know how to face her mother.

Ever since they parted ways at the vi, the thought of sharing a room with her and pretending to y out some sentimental mother daughter scene made Aurora sick to her stomach.

And yet, she was the one who’d suffered the mos

Had anyone ever cared about how she felt?

Just picturing it made her heart turn cold.

And now Grace was calling her into the office again.

Aurora instinctively assumed Tessa would be there too.

She didn’t want to witness another fake disy of motherly affection between them.

Better to stay out of it altogether.

Aurora smiled and nodded at the messenger. “Let Madam Grace know I’m swamped with work and really can’t step away right now.

“I’ll go see her once I’m done.”

The staff member looked a little troubled.

He scratched the back of his head and said awkwardly, “But Madam Grace told me I have to bring you over no matter what.

“She also said she’d be waiting in her office, and that she really does have something to discuss with you.”

    Aurora was a little surprised.

She hadn’t expected her mother to anticipate her excuse so precisely.

Even the words she nned to use had already been countered.

Looking at the messenger’s uneasy face, Aurora sighed.

Then she stood up and said, “Alright, I’ll go with you. No need to look so distressed.”

The staffer immediately lit up, clearly relieved.

He hadn’t let the chairwoman down.

    Still, he couldn’t help wondering.

How did she know for sure Aurora would use work as an excuse to avoiding?

Well, no surprise–they were mother and daughter after all.

Finally, he opened the office door and smiled. “Madam Grace said if you came, you right in.”

    could go

Aurora dropped her nk expression and gave a small nod.

She stepped forward and walked in without hesitation.

The staffer exhaled in relief as she entered.

    This job really wasn’t easy.

The two of them acted just like a mother and daughter caught in a cold war.
