Chapter 976
Otherwise, it would only make her feel more guilty.
Aurora gave Arnold a polite nod. “Mr. Lee, is my mom home?”
“She is, she is,” he replied quickly, then asked, “Are you here to talk to Madam Grace about something?”
Aurora hesitated, unsure how to begin.
She simply shook her head. “I’ll speak to her in a bit.”
Her expression revealed nothing, but it was clear she wasn’t about to exin anything to the butler.
“Alright then.”
Arnold understood perfectly.
He realized that asking what she intended to discuss with Grace wasn’t exactly appropriate.
It was a personal matter, and it wasn’t his ce to pry.
He quickly apologized. “I’m sorry, Miss Aurora. I overstepped.”
Aurora didn’t take it to heart.
She gave a small shake of her head. “It’s fine. I know you didn’t mean anything by it.”
She spoke as she made her way inside.
Seeing this, Arnold gave up trying to stop her.
He really had no authority to do anything.
He was just staff–he couldn’t actually block a family member from entering.
Everything now depended on how Grace would handle things.
Thinking it over, Arnold figured it probably wouldn’t be a big deal.
They were all family, after all.
Whatever happened next was up to Grace.
As Aurora stepped into the house, the first thing she saw was Tessa eating happily at the table while Grace hovered nearby, fussing over her.
The sight sent a sharp pang through Aurora’s chest.
So, all that worry she’d had over Grace’s state of mind?
It turned out Grace had already weed the person at the center of it all right back into the house.
What did that make her feelings–some kind of joke?
What did her worries even mean to Grace, in the end?
Grace had already known Aurora wasing the moment she heard the butler’s voice.
But she had no idea how to react.
After all, Tessa was right here. If she responded too strongly, it wouldn’t be fair to her.
Tessa, on the other hand, had been watching, Grace’s reaction closely the entire time.
She was just as curious–which of the two daughters held more weight in Grace’s heart?
To her surprise, even when Aurora walked in, Grace didn’t change a thing.
She just kept cing food into Tessa’s te.
And when she saw Aurora, she greeted her with a cheerful smile.
“Aurora, have you eaten? Come sit and have something It’s all freshly made.”
Aurora didn’t respond. Her eyes settled on the dishes.
Judging by the presentation, she could tell they’d been cooked by her mother.
Her fists clenched.
When she came home, there had been none of this.
But Tessa?
What had she done to deserve this?
She had already told Grace everything–that Tessa had een in league with Julian.
Why didn’t she believe her?
Even now, was she still pretending not to see the truth?
Aurora took a deep breath, trying hard to steady her emtions.
Tessa spoke at just the right moment.
“Sis, why don’t you sit and eat something? Mom doesn cook often–you don’t want to miss this.”
Her words only confirmed what Aurora already suspected.
A pang of guilt stirred in Grace’s chest.
She honestly hadn’t expected Aurora to show up today. The whole situation had caught her off guard.
But now that she was here, hiding from it wouldn’t be right either.
