Chapter 917

If he said anything more, he’d only be an obstacle to her.

    “Alright, I understand.”

Lucas said seriously, “But if anything happens, you have to tell me I’ll always be on your side.”

Aurora could see the sincerity in his eyes and understood what he meant.

Her heart warmed, and the smile on her face grew softer.

    “Okay. Don’t worry.”

Having someone like him by her side was already more than she could ask for.

She didn’t need much–just the two of them, together for the long haul.

Everything else, she truly didn’t care for.

Still, who knew what the future might bring?

With that thought, Aurora suddenly looked at Lucas and said, “Lucas, I hope that no matter what happens in the future, you won’t keep anything from me.”

    Lucas froze.

He didn’t understand why she suddenly said that.

Was there something behind those words?

“Aurora, why would you bring that up out of the blue?”

His hands clenched slightly as he tried to keep his emotions in check.

But what no one else knew was how unsettled he actually felt inside.

The fact that she’d brought this up meant she must’ve suspected something.

There was no reason for it otherwise. He really didn’t get it.

Aurora narrowed her eyes, watching the tension in Lucas‘ face, and a seed of doubt quietly took root in her heart.

    “I was just saying.”

She smiled. “But why are you so nervous, Lucas?”

Lucas smiled too, quietly breathing a sigh of relief. “I’m not nervous, I just thought it was a strange thing to bring up all of a sudden.

“Besides, if anything everes up, I’ll definitely tell you.”

But he still didn’t reveal his identity.

Looking into Aurora’s hopeful eyes, he couldn’t help but feel the timing just wasn’t right.

He didn’t dare take the risk.

He couldn’t be sure how she would react once the truth came out.

That uncertainty left his heart unsettled.

And because of that, he chose to keep the truth buried.

He still didn’t know how to start that conversation with her.

Aurora, on the other hand, felt genuinely happy hearing what he said.

If they could be open and honest with each other, it meant their future together could go even further.

With that assurance, she felt more grounded.

“Alright, let’s get some rest. I’m going back to the office tomorrow‘

It had been quite a while since she’dst been there, and honestly, she felt a mix of nervousness and excitement.

She was curious to see how much thepany had changed.

As for her mother… she decided to let that unfold naturally.

Aurora sighed, figuring she’d assess thepany’s situation first before making any decisions.

Lucas watched as shey down and followed suit, slipping in beside her.

He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close.

After a month of anxiety and uncertainty, he finally felt grounded.

The fear he’d carried seemed to ease in that moment.

Aurora felt the warmth behind her and let herself rx, a peaceful smile spreading across her face.

But she didn’t know that Lucas was still afraid of what would happen if the truth about his identity came out.

And with that fear lingering in his chest, he held her a little tighter.
