She broke into a teary smile, looking both disheveled and endearings.

Choking up, Megan asked, “Aurora, are you really okay? You didn fall, right? You’re not hurt? Nothing got hit?”

Aurora shook her head. “I’m fine. My legs just gave out for a moment, I lost my bnce a little. It’s really not as bad as you think.

“Well, yeah… she almost went face–first into the floor.”

    Megan’s eyes widened. “What? Face–first?!”

Her voice shot up a few octaves.

Clearly, she couldn’t handle hearing that.

She’d promised to be here and take care of Aurora.

And now? Aurora had nearly fallen t on her face.

    She feltpletely useless.

The thought only made Megan feel even more guilty.

Leonard watched from the side, and even he felt a pang of difort.

But he was just an outsider in this moment–he didn’t know what to say.

And truthfully, after what Lucas had said earlier, he realized he might’ve overstepped.

Leonard pressed his lips into a tight line, ultimately choosing not to step forward again.

Lucas‘ look from before had made him feel utterly exposed.

It was like he was invisible in front of Lucas.

And more than that, he didn’t even know where to ce his own pride.

Leonard’s inner thoughts were unknown to everyone else.

No one could see what was going on inside him.

As long as he didn’t do anything too bold, Lucas wasn’t nning to expose him just yet.

But Leonard had better keep himself in check.

A cold glint flickered in Lucas‘ eyes because if he didn’t, Lucas had no problem being the viin.

Aurora looked at Megan’s shocked expression and could only shoot Lucas an exasperated re.

She had just managed to calm Megan down, and now Lucas, with just a few words, had stirred it all back up.

All her effort was it just wasted?

She had no idea what Lucas was even trying to do at this point.

Aurora hugged Megan tightly tofort her. “Alright, alright, it’s really not that serious. Don’t listen to your cousin exaggerating everything.

“I just lost my bnce, that’s all. Nothing else happened. It’s mainly because my muscles haven’t fully recovered yet, so my legs gave out for a second.”

Megan’s eyes were still filled with tears. “Then… Aurora, promise me you’ll listen to me from now on, okay?”

She didn’t care about being med or scolded

All she wanted was for Aurora to recover safely and stay healthy.

    Everything else could wait.

Seeing the two of them like this, Lucas pressed his lips together and said nothing more.

The two girls were clearly close, and something like this wasn’t going to change that.

It wasn’t worth making a scene over.

Still, after this incident, Megan became even more watchful of Aurora.

She practically wanted to stick to her side twenty–four hours a day

Of course, she knew that wasn’t realistic.

But in her heart, she was determined to take full responsibility for Aurora.

Anything she could do, she wouldn’t leave undone.

And any chance to stay by Aurora’s side, she’d take.

With a beaming smile, Megan proudlyid out all the breakfast she’d brought.

“Aurora, let’s not talk about all this sad stuff anymore. Let’s eat, okay?”

She busied herself cheerfully, as if the earlier tension hadpletely vanished.
