Chapter 541
Tessa leaned against Grace’s shoulder and shook her head, silently telling her it was fine.
But in her heart, she thought, of course it was fine.
It wouldn’t matter even if Aurora never woke up for the rest of her fe
In fact, that would be the best oue for all of them.
Why should she wake up and ruin everything and make everyone miserable again?
And just like that, Tessa officially took over as the acting general manager.
Grace urged her, “You should head to thepany soon and start familiarizing yourself with the workflow.”
After all, Grace was still a little concerned.
Most of this would be Tessa’s first time, and she wasn’t sure how well she’d handle it.
It was only because Tessa’s degree happened to match thepany’s needs that Grace even considered giving her a chance. If she hadn’t studied the right field, Grace would never have let her take it so easily.
Tessa nodded earnestly. “Don’t worry, Mom. I won’t let you down. I’ll treat thepany’s interests as more important than my own life.”
Grace shook her head. “Silly girl. I just want you to do your best. You don’t need to take it so seriously. Your life and health matter more than anything else.
“In my eyes, nothing is more important than the two of you–your health and future. Thepany only exists to help build a better path for both of you.”
Tessa simply smiled and replied sweetly, “Thank you, Mom. I always knew you were the best.”
But deep down, she didn’t take a single word to heart. She knew exactly what kind of person Grace really was.
Everything she said now was just for show–her true thoughts were always buried beneath the surface.
And let’s be honest, everyone had seen how seriously Grace treated thepany over the years.
As if a few sentimental lines could suddenly make it seem unimportant.
“Alright then, Mom. I’ll head to the office now and get up to speed. You stay home and focus on your recovery.”
Tessa spoke considerately, looking every bit the dutiful daughter, focused entirely on thepany and easing her mother’s
burden.
“Alright. You’ve really worked hard these past few days.”
Tessa shook her head. “Not at all. I’m part of this family too, Mom. You don’t need to be so formal with me.”
“Go on, then. If you have any questions, just give me a call.”
Only then did Tessa set off.
Grace watched her daughter’s back as she left, falling into silence.
Arnold couldn’t help but ask, “Madam Grace, are you reallyfortable leaving thepany in Miss Tessa’s hands?”
“Of course I’m not,” Grace said tly.
“But there’s no other option. Right now, she’s the only one who can step in. If it were someone else, I’d trust them even less.”
Arnold thought it over and realized she was right.
At this point, Tessa really was the most suitable candidate.
After all, Walton Corporation belonged to their family.
Nothing serious should go wrong.
And if something truly did, well, that would just mean it was written in thepany’s fate.
Besides, Grace wasn’t in any shape to be at the office.
And the senior executives were all circling like vultures, waiting for a chance to sfrike.
With that thought, Arnold let out a sigh.
He had served the Walton family for many years and knew all too well how things worked in powerful families like this.
