Chapter 521

Though Keh had always known Wendy harbored feelings for Lucas, he’d never realized just how deep those feelings ran.

“You really like him that much?”

Keh sat down on the sofa, looking at her with genuine confusion.

She was his sister, yet it was only now he realized how little he actually understood about her inner world.

He’d never paid attention to these thoughts and teenage daydreams before.

“Brother, I actually understood what ss meant when I was still a kid,” Wendy began seriously.

Keh raised an eyebrow, adjusting his posture to get morefortable.

He gestured for her to go on.

Wendy nodded and continued slowly, almost thoughtfully.

“From that moment on, I knew people were divided–some were born above, others below.

“And it was then I decided: I wouldn’t settle for an average life. I wanted to be someone at the top.”

Keh was stunned. That wasn’t the answer he’d expected at all.

“So… that’s why you like Lucas?”

Wendy nced at his skeptical expression, then gave a small, embarrassed nod.

“Yes. He’s the most outstanding man I’ve ever met. And the best–looking too. A man like that, at the top of everything— wouldn’t’he be a perfect match for me?”

Hearing that, Keh couldn’t help but press his palm to his forehead.

He was honestly starting to wonder if something was wrong with his sister’s brain.

How could she be so… dramatically idealistic?

“Alright, alright, stop with that nonsense.”

    Wendy instantly pouted, displeased.

“What do you mean nonsense? I’m being serious!”

Keh let out a long sigh and rolled his eyes–so hard it could’ve echoed.

“Fine, fine. I don’t get it. It’s my problem, clearly.”

He rubbed his temples. Having a sister like this was exhausting.

Wendy pouted harder, her tone full of indignation.

“You’re just too idealistic. People today have to be realistic and yes, materialistic, too! If not, then what’s the use of all those sweet, empty words? When gets cold or I’m hungry, can those words keep me warm or fill my stomach?”

Hearing that, Keh opened his mouth but couldn’te up with a retort.

He hadn’t expected that a young girl like her could be so bluntly clear–eyed.

Was it possible he was less grounded than his own little sister?

    He sighed helplessly.

    “Alright, al

alright, forget your teenage fantasies for a moment. Just tell me, what the hell did you do to piss Lucas off this much? You have no idea. I was working overseas, and he dragged me back here himself.”

At that, Wendy shrank back slightly, her shoulders twitching.

A hint of fear shed through her eyes.

“I… I don’t know. You can ask Lukey. I really don’t know what he’s thinking.”

She was clearly dodging the issue.

And deep down, she was certain Keh wouldn’t actually go and confront Lucas about it.

She’d grown up watching the two of them–though they were close friends, Keh had always fear Lucas.

She’d picked up on it even as a child.

That was why, in her eyes, Lucas had always been the strongest man in the world.

Her brother might’ve been outstanding, but Lucas outshined even him.

And that was exactly why Wendy had fallen for him–utterly, helplessly, andpletely.
