But Grace no longer had the energy to care about any of that.
She had thought Aurora would be just fine on her own out there.
Who would have expected that in just a few days, she’d end up in the hospital?
Grace still couldn’t quite ept it.
Now, facing Tessa’s smiling face, she didn’t even know what to say
Tessa felt uneasy under her mother’s stare.
Why was Grace looking at her like that?
Had she found out something?
No, that couldn’t be.
Everything she had done was well–hidden–no one could possibly know, unless she chose to tell them herself.
With that thought, Tessa grew bolder.
She looked directly at her mother and said, “Mom, I’m back. Why are you still sitting here in the living room?
“And just now, when I was talking to you, you lookedpletely spaced out. You didn’t even respond.”
Grace finally snapped out of it.
“No, I was just thinking about thepany,” she said, forcing herself to sound collected, as if she hadn’t just been lost in thought.
Arnold watched Grace closely, worried.
After all, he had watched the Aurora grow up. And now she was lying unconscious in a hospital bed.
When he first heard the news, he was devastated.
But Grace had only stared off nkly for a few seconds before going silent.
He didn’t know what was going through her mind, but after serving this family for so many years, he couldn’t help but ache for that girl.
He had watched her grow up; she was like a granddaughter to him
But in the end, he was just a servant in this household. There was nothing he could change.
Arnold thought it over but ultimately said nothing.
He knew his words carried little weight and couldn’t change anything.
Tessa watched her mother, noticing how distracted she seemed.
Her eyes narrowed slightly–she had a feeling Grace already knew something, just wasn’t saying it.
So, Tessa gently nudged the conversation toward Aurora’s situation.
“Mom, what are you so worried about?”
She smiled. “Aurora’s still at thepany, right? She’s so capable, I’m sure she can take good care of things.
‘And besides, we’ve seen how those coborations are going. There’s really nothing to worry about. If you ask me, you’re just overthinking it.”
The moment Grace heard Aurora’s name, her anxiety deepened.
“You don’t understand. Aurora already…”
Realizing she’d said too much, Grace abruptly stopped and didn’t continue.
Tessa raised an eyebrow. “What is it, Mon? Did something happen to Aurora?”
“No.”
Grace quicklyposed herself. “You’re not well. Go on upstairs and rest. You’ve juste back from being out, you shouldn’t overthink anything. Your healthes first.”
Seeing her mother’s reaction, Tessa was now certain of one thing
Grace definitely knew Aurora was unconscious.
It was time to move forward with Gary.
They needed to increase the dosage.
Once more people found out, it’d be harder for her to make any moves.
This couldn’t be dyed.
“Alright, then you take care of yourself too, Mom. I’ll head upstairs.”
Tessa spoke considerately. “If anythinges up, please tell me. I want to help too. I don’t want to just be somezy daughter hiding behind you.”
