Lucas stared at Wendy, his patience wearing even thinner.

But Wendy acted as if she hadn’t noticed at all. She didn’t answer his question and just kept talking on her own.

“Lukey, what I want is really simple. How could you forget hat?”

    “What do you want?”

As her hand slid across his body, Larcas felt a wave of disgust ripple through him.

    Goosebumps prickled his skin.

immediately flung her hand off and frowned so tightly looked like he could crush a mosquito between his

    brows

    “Have some self–respect.”

Wendy’s smile froze, but for now, it was still bearable.

At the very least, Lucas was still willing to talk to her instead of walking away and locking himself in his room.

“Lukey, why are you being so distant? I just wanted to have a meal with you.”

Lucas gave her a surprised look, his gaze tinged with disbelief.

    “Just a meal?”

“Of course,” Wendy’s eyes lit up. “Unless, you want to do something more with me? Because I’d be happy to.”

Lucas felt a chill crawl down his spine. Was this really the same Wendy he used to know?

How long had it been? Why did she seem like apletely different person now?

Gone was the cute, innocent girl from his childhood–what stood in front of him now was someone materialistic and calcting.

He couldn’t help but recall the way she’d looked at him earlier, with lust and possessiveness written all over her face.

Had she been harboring inappropriate thoughts about him all along?

Lucas took a deep breath. “If you can’t speak properly, then get out of my house.”

“Sure,” Wendy replied with a smile. “But I think your wife would love to know the truth about who you really are.

“After all, being kept in the dark? Doesn’t feel too great, does it?

“These past few days, I’ve been watching your wife’s temper. She doesn’t seem like the easygoing type. She’s pretty headstrong, isn’t she?”

Lucas clenched his fists, the air around him turning ice–cold with fury.

Keh’s little sister was a real piece of w

    She was unbelievably bold.

Wendy flinched at the look in Lucas‘ eyes, but she still stood her ground, her chin raised defiantly like she had nothing to lose.

    So what? Life was short.

If she didn’t go after the man she liked, then what was the point of it all?

She was determined to enjoy life while she could.

She stepped closer to Lucas, digging her nails into her thigh to stop herself from trembling, silently cursing, Stupid leg, quit shaking!”

But even so, her voice came out shaky as she spoke.

“Lukey, I promise thatafter this meal, I won’t say a single word to your wife about anything concerning you.

“We’ve known each other since we were kids. You can trust me on that, can’t you?”

Lucas nced down at her without a word, then turned and walked off.

Wendy beamed with satisfaction. She knew it–that was his silent agreement.

When the door to the master bedroom shut behind him, Wendy hummed a tune and returned to her own room.

Anyone with eyes could see she was over the moon.

Tomorrow, she’d be going on a date with her Lukey,

She was already nning to book a stylist to help her get ready.

She had to make a good impression

Clutching her phone, Wendy looked every bit the love–struck girl, full of dreamy anticipation for tomorrow’s date.
