I heard everything, you know,” Luras said with a grin.

“You said being with me makes you feel content.”

Aurora rolled her eyes. “So, you heard that, huh?”

Lucas smiled and slipped an arm around her. “Not only did hear it, but you can be sure I’ll live up to it.

“We’re not just spending a day or two together–we’re spelding a lifetime. So, if I mess up along the way, I hope you will be generous enough to forgive me.

Aurora let out a softugh. “Got it, Mr. Carter,”

The two of them looked like a couple freshly in love–warmth and sweetness surrounded them, creating a bubble no one else could step into

As they stopped inside, a savory aroma hit them.

Aurora turned to Lucas, her expression puzzled, silently asking what was going on.

Lucas shook his head, just as confused.

“Don’t look at me. I didn’t ask anyone to cook.”

They walked into the kitchen and found dishes neatly arranged on the table, along with a folded note.

Aurora picked it up and read it. The handwriting was neat and graceful–clear effort had been put into it.

“Lucas, Aurora, I made this meal based on when I thought you’d get home.

    “I hope y

you won’t mind. It’s just a little gesture from me. I don’t have much to offer in return for everything you’ve done, so consider this my apology–a small token of goodwill.

“You can rest assured that I won’t be disturbing you again.”

At the end, Wendy had even drawn a cute little face, clearly trying her best to soften the message.

Aurora handed the note to Lucas, raising a brow, “Did you talk to her again?”

“No,” he said honestly. “Thaven’t said a word.”

Lucas was just as puzzled. Why would Wendy suddenly go to all this trouble?

What did she hope to gain by doing this?

Could it be that she was genuinely remorseful?

Lucas was skeptical, but a part of him wanted to believe it might be true.

Aurora raised an eyebrow and said casually,

“You don’t think she did something to the food, do you?”

Lucas jolted at the thought, immediately moving to toss the dishes out.

“Then let’s not eat it. I’ll take you out instead.”

“Hey, no need, I was joking,” Aurora said, ughing as she watched his reaction.

“She wouldn’t be that dumb, tampering with the food and then leaving a note on top of it. That would just point straight back to her, wouldn’t it?”

    “This Wendy… she’s not that stupid. I don’t believe she’d that far.”

Lucas reconsidered and realized she had a point.

If something really were wrong with the food, they’d know right away.

    They could even teport it:

And the note? It’d be the first piece of evidence.

“Alright, let’s eat then. I’m actually pretty hungry,” he said, sitting down.

“But keep that note. It mighte in handy.”

Aurora chuckled and nodded. “Got it.”

She tucked the note into her pocket and sat down to eat.

“Okay, enough of the what–ifs. You said you were hungry, night? This saves us the trouble of cooking. and get some rest early.”

    Det’s eat
