Chapter 383
Aurora hadn’t even said a word before the line went dead.
That confirmed it–Tessa had done it on purpose.
She had no intention of letting her see Grace.
Aurora knew exactly what Tessa was trying to pull behind the scenes.
Grace had ended up in the hospital, and there was no way she could just sit around at thepany and pretend nothing happened. That was impossible.
And most importantly, she still didn’t know if Grace’s condition had anything to do with her.
How could she possibly stand by and ignore it?
It wasn’t about appearances or what others thought–if she really was responsible, even in part, she wouldn’t be able to forgive herself,
Grace had always treated her well. How could she let a petty argument keep her from visiting? That wasn’t who she was.
Just thinking about it made Aurora’s heart ache.
If only she hadn’t argued with her mother that day… maybe none of this would have happened.
Her eyes dropped as her fingers tightened at her sides.
She needed to find Grace, immediately.
Otherwise, nothing else mattered.
Right now, the only thing that counted was her mother’s health.
Aurora pressed her lips together, silently praying Grace would be alright.
Only then could she ease even a fraction of the guilt gnawing at her.
Her eyes reddened slightly. She made up her mind to head to the office and find Jason–she needed answers.
Sitting around doing nothing just wasn’t her style, and she wasn’t about to watch things spiral out of control.
As she approached the building, Leonard happened to arrive and saw her just as she was about to step inside.
He called out, “Aurora!”
Aurora stopped in her tracks at the sound of his voice.
She turned toward it and saw Leonard, his light hair catching the sun, smiling as he jogged over with a warmth that felt like spring.
“What are you doing here?” she asked, unable to hide her surprise.
Leonard paused for a second, then quickly caught on.
“I just called you, remember? I was worried about you,” he said with a smile,
Aurora recalled the earlier call. She hadn’t expected him to follow up in person.
He really was thoughtful.
She waved it off. “It’s nothing. I’ve stepped out of it now.”
“How’s the Chairwoman doing?” Leonard asked, concern showing clearly in his eyes.
Aurora gave a slight shrug. “I was just about to go in and find out. I wasn’t at the office earlier today, so I don’t really know the details yet.”
Leonard didn’t miss the trace of guilt and regret in her eyes.
“Alright then, I’ll go in with you.”
Aurora frowned. “Don’t you have things to do today?”
He shook his head. “Nope. I was just spending time with my sister at home. Then I gave you that call.

“And I do have some business connections with the Chairwoman. It’s not inappropriate for me to check in, is it? Or… am I not wee?”
With that harmless, almost innocent face, Leonard looked at her without a hint of malice.
Aurora hesitated for a moment, but seeing his expression, she found herself wavering.
To be fair, he wasn’t wrong.
