The assistant didn’t need any prompting from the executives, he had already made up his mind to take good care of Grace.
Hearing his reassurance, the others finally felt at ease and left the hospital.
Once the hallway quieted and he was the only one left, the assistant couldn’t help but start overthinking again.
What was going on with Aurora?
Grace had been hospitalized, yet Aurora hadn’t shown up at all. Was it possible she didn’t know?
But then he took a deep breath, realizing how unlikely that was.
After all, the entire floor of employees had witnessed what happened. Not to mention, the executives had all rushed over. There was no way Aurora could be
unaware.
He was probably just overthinking it.
Pushing those thoughts aside, the assistant reminded himself that his priority was Grace’s care. He couldn’t afford distractions.
And so, he focused all his attention on looking after her.
Meanwhile, Tessa was shocked when she received the news about her mother.
“What happened? Is Mom okay?” she blurted out.
One of Walton Corporation’s senior executives quickly tether. “Don’t worry, Miss Tessa. The Chairwoman is in the hospital and the assistant is with her.
Everything is under control.”
Despite his calm tone, Tessa remained uneasy.
She immediately asked for the hospital address and rushed over
No matter what, she still had feelings for Grace.
without dy.
She didn’t know what had caused the sudden illness, but going there in person served two purposes: to find out the truth and to show her filial concern.
Sure enough, when she arrived, the only person in the hospital room was the assistant.
Not a single other executive or staff member was in sight.
Tessa frowned and asked, “Are you the only one here?”
The assistant’s heart skipped a beat at the question.
He quickly stood and replied, “Yes, Miss Tessa. I’m the only one here.”
“Where’s Aurora? She didn’t <be?”
Tessa was genuinely puzzled,
Their mother had copsed at thepany and was now in the hospital–how could Aurora note check on her?
It didn’t make sense. Normally, Aurora paid close attention to situations like this at work. And more importantly, Grace was their mother. How could she not show up?
Especially when it happened right at the office.
But the assistant only shook his head. “I’m sorry, Miss Tessa. I don’t know where the General Manager went,”
Tessa frowned. “Wasn’t she at the <bpany?”
“I’m not sure. After she left the Chairwoman in my care, she just… left. I don’t know if she stayed at thepany or went elsewhere, I didn’t ask–after all, I’m just afi assistant.”
Tessa paused for a moment. That did make some sense,
She gave a small nod. “Alright. Got it.”
Then she hesitated.
The assistant immediately tensed, “Is something wrong, Miss Tessa?”
Tessa gave him a gentle smile. “It’s nothing. I understand now.”
“As for updating her… if needed, I’ll be the one to let her know.”
“Of course. Thank you, Miss Tessa.”
The assistant bowed slightly, speaking with respectful sincerity.
Tessa returned his politeness with a faint, posed smile.
All in all, their exchange remained pleasant and civil.
