She had known Lucas for so long, and yet she was nothing to him.

 It was clearly Aurora, this outsider, who came between them.

 So, how could she have the nerve to stand there acting so self–righteous?

 “I just wanted to see what kind of spell you’ve put on Lukey,” Wendy said coldly.

 Aurora raised a brow, finding thement more amusing than offensive. “Oh? So now that Lucas isn’t home, you’re finally done pretending, is that it?”

 Wendy’s jaw clenched at Aurora’s nonchnce. Her heart was already brimming with bitterness and fury.

 “You bitch! Why does he care about you so much? What do you have that I don’t?”

 Aurora crossed her arms, her tonenguid, as if Wendy’s rage barely registered.

 “Simple. I’m his wife. You’re just the so–called ‘childhood friend‘ he’s mentioned in passing. There’s nothing between you, and there never will be.”

 Then she gave Wendy a slow, disdainful once–over.

 “As for you…” Her voice was calm, but biting. 

 “You might want to look in the mirror sometime. At least I don’t go around screaming insults like some unhinged brat. That alone makes me ssier than you’ll 

 ever be.” 

 The words hit their mark.

 Wendy’s entire body trembled with rage.

 “It’s all because of you!” she shouted.

 “If it weren’t for you, Lukey would’ve chosen me! You’re the homewrecker–you destroyed everything we had!”

 Her fists clenched tightly at her sides. 

 If it weren’t for the wrong timing, if she thought she could get away with it, she would’ve already carved up Aurora’s pretty face out of spite. 

 Every time she looked at that perfect face, jealousy ate away at her.

 She couldn’t help but feel small, in, and overlooked.

 She had inherited unfortunate features from her family, nothing like Aurora’s wless beauty.

 And that made her crave Lucas‘ affection even more. 

 Even so, deep down, Wendy still believed she was the one truly meant for him.

 Not that bitch.

 After all, she was the one who had grown up by Lucas‘ side–not Aurora, the outsider who had suddenly appeared and inserted herself into his life. 

 And Wendy wanted Aurora to understand that. 

 “You’ll always be the third party. I’ve been by his side for years. You don’t deserve him.” 

 Her fists were clenched tight, her entire frame brimming with outrage. 

 Aurora couldn’t help but <bugh. 

 She hadn’t realized before just how much Wendy resembled a circus clown.

 “So what exactly are you trying to achieve bying here and saying all this?” she asked, her voice calm, amused even.

 Wendy let out a bitter chuckle. 

 “I’m warning you that if you want to keep your ce at Walton Corporation, then stay away from Lukey. Otherwise, what’s </bing your way won’t be as simple as what you’ve faced so far.”

 “Threats now?” Aurora raised a brow, her tone sharper. “What exactly are you implying?” 

 “Implying?” Wendy sneered, stepping in closer. “You already know what I mean,”

 She leaned forward, her voice low, venomous. “Everything that’s happened to youtely–isn’t that enough of a lesson?” 

 The pieces clicked in Aurora’s mind.

 So that was it.

 That sudden price hike from John hadn’t been random at all.

 How had she missed it?

 “You’re working with LC Group?” Aurora’s eyes narrowed, a chill slipping into her gaze even she hadn’t noticed.

 Wendy onlyughed, clearly pleased with herself.

 “I don’t know what you’re talking about. But if you keep clinging to Lukey, I can promise you things are only going to get worse.

 “This little streak of good luck you’ve been enjoying? It won’t <bst.” 

 Her voice was dripping with smugness now.

 “You’ll see just how hard it can get for someone like you.”
