Aurora arched a brow, then reached out and shook his hand.
It was brief, just a touch, but enough to signify that the partnership was back on track.
A faint smile spread across her refined features.
“Don’t worry. I’ll have a new contract sent over to yourpany soon, and we’ll continue maintaining a good working rtionship.”
“Of course, I understandpletely, Miss Walton.”
David nodded earnestly. “This time, our partnership will be stronger than ever.”
Inwardly, he scoffed.
He definitely need to build a stronger rtionship with her now that he knew the Walton Corporation had Vanguard behind it
He wasn’t foolish
In Ravenshore, he knew exactly whose word carried weight.
Aurora picked up on something strange in his tone, but didn’t dwell on it.
Maybe it was just the relief from clearing up the misunderstanding that made him more trusting?
She couldn’t think of another exnation.
Still, she was determined to find out who had sent that letter.
Someone was clearly setting her up.
“Alright, Mr. Warren, I’ll head back now. Once the contract is ready, I’ll have someone send it over.
David smiled. “You’ve always been efficient. Take your time.”
“Oh, and by the way, feel free to proceed with the supply on your side. I’ll resume the supplyter this aftemoon.”
Aurora blinked. That fast?
“Alright. Thank you,
Mr. Warren”
As she walked out, there was still a dazed feeling lingering in her chest.
Was it really resolved just like that?
After all the days of stress, now that it was finally over, she could barely process it.
For a moment, it all felt unreal.
Watching her leave, David let out a long breath.
Thank God, it was finally over.
He was only worried about identally slipping up in front of Aurora and exposing Vanguard–that would be a disaster.
Later, Desmond called David. “So? Did Mrs. I mean, Miss Walton get suspicious? You didn’t let anything slip, did you?”
He’d nearly said Mrs. Carter, but caught himself just in time.
A nce at Lucas beside him had his breath catch in his throat.
That one look nearly made his knees buckle
The boss was still as terrifying, as ever.
Just a single nce, and Desmond almost copsed.
Thankfully, David hadn’t caught the slip
“Don’t worry, not a chance. It’s all taken care of. I’ll resume supplying materials this afternoon” Desmond finally rxed “Good. From here on, just follow the normal procedures.”
David wiped the sweat off his brow. It wasn’t until the call ended that he finally exhaled in relief.
He hadn’t expected someone from Vanguard to call him afterward.
That could only mean one thing–Aurora wasn’t just some regr general manager of Walton Corporation
Could she be connected to whoever held real power behind Vanguard?
The thought alone sent a chill down David’s spine.
What if Aurora had gone straight to them toin about the supply cutoff?
If that had happened, would he even have a ce left in Ravenshore?
At this point, David could only force himself to think positively.
That afternoon, he even went the extra mile by sending a few additional shipments over at the same price.
When the workers received the delivery, they immediately noticed the difference. The quantity was clearly more than before, so they reported it to the site supervisor.
