Chapter 57
Nivern emerged from the boutiqgin hourster slight brown suede trench coal, arms full of dress bags, wrists, but they were worth it
She was unable to decide which dress to pick for the function, and so the decided to
o get as many as
night of them almost dragging
And when Mejandro asked, she would simply give him the excuse of wanting him to pick one. Yes, it was the perfect muse
paused in the open corridor, scanning the smooth tile fince the d alieady spent a small fortune–enough to make her heart pound everyt remembered Alejandro’s card wasn’t beos
But she shook off the fear; after all, he had told her not to embarrass him, and she was doing just that:
At least, even if he got angry, he wouldn’t kill her. Plus, this wasn’t the first time she was getting in trouble for spending a lo card
She approached the entrance to the slice department, where glossy cases gleamed under soft lights,
Rows of heels–strappy stilettos, graceful pumps with satin bows, towering wedges–filled her vision, Perfect.
As she set down her bags, she immediately proceeded to business, one she had missed doing. Hmm, being with Alejandro didn’t seem like such a bad thing anymore,
Meanwhile, two women at the opposite end leaned in toward each other, though they kept half hidden behind tall shoe racks.
One wore a sharply cut zer and oversized sunsses, while the other was glossy–lipped and covered inyers of makeup and both perched on heels that looked like they cost more than a month’s rent in a small town,
Both leaned in as Nivera examined a sleek ck heel, and they moved closer to her.
“That’s her. She’s the one,” the first woman said, and the other woman huffed.
“That’s the new little side piece Alejandro brought out–or whatever. A trashy model who tried to get into the bed of Nathaniel.”
“She does have that slut vibe, doesn’t she? Thinks she’s hot. Now that she’s with Alejandro, she’s getting the life she never had.”
Nivera blinked as every word the women said reached her ear. The store was quiet, and they weren’t exactly trying to be quiet
Her jaw clenched so hard, she was afraid she’d break it. They weren’t stall. They were regr customers, obviously low–key stalking her.
And judging from their words, she could tell why they were so mean,
Great Another admirer of Alejandro’s, angry someone stole their favourite bachelor like they even stood a chance.
If only she could st it to the entire world that Alejandro wasn’t worth it. However, knowing how desperate women were, that would just be a turn-on
for them.
She moved away to another section, as she wasn’t interested in giving the women any attention. Plus, Alejandro’s warning rang in her head.
“Oh my god, look at her. Without Alejandro’s money, she wouldn’t think of spending so much on new shoes? She must think she’s royalty!” The women continued.
“I hope those shoes don’t swallow her ankles,
Nivera, unable to ignore them any longer, turned to face them, her voice to a dangerously low level. “Is there a problem?”
The women who hadn’t even had her to confront them flinched slightly, but they recovered quickly, their voices heavy
y with scorn as they spoke.
Chapter 57
“Problem? No. But you might have a problem–you, farning yourself for Alejandro, thinking you’re special.
Nivera’s heart thundered with anger, and she noticed a mall security officer two aisles away. There were cameras trained on the area, but maybe these women were oblivious–or felt untouchable,
Fine, they wanted to y, she’d y
“You’re making rude and unnecessaryments about a rtionship that doesn’t concem you,” she scoffed
The woman in the zer was the first to speak
“Unnecessary? Sweetheart, if you think anyone cares what side chick wears where–think again. People like you? You’re receable” She spat, loud enough for surrounding shoppers to hear.
Nivera’s hands shook as she forced herself to calm down. What was she even doing? She didn’t need this nor did she need to prove herself
With that she turned to leave the store as that was enough shopping for the day
As she pivoted and took two steps away, the other woman said something that made Nivera stop in her tracks
“Did your mother also open your legs like you? Has to be why there’s nothing on your family online, Bunch of sluts!”
Her meaning was clear. No one talked about her mother that way, even though the woman wasn’t the best mother.
Nivera clenched her fists at her sides. For a moment, she considered turning around and giving the sweaty lip gloss bitch a knuckle sandwich.
But surprisingly, she stopped herself. She was surprised, as she knew she didn’t have that level of self–control
“My mom learnt from your pathetic mother.” This was her simple response, without turning to face the woman
One secondter, a stiletto heel smacked into the back of her call, sending a sharp pain up her leg
Nivera gasped in pain, and before she could respond, the other woman rushed forward with a sneer and pped her hard across the face, the sound crackling in the shoe department.
The woman attempted to p her again, but her hand froze midair, all thanks to Nivera catching her hand.
They looked
dat each other. The emotional stagger that preceded the violence wasn’t just physical–it was a battle for dominance.
as someone from behind the woman who had pped her delivered her own p
Nivera didn’t, however, have to do anything, as
Gasps
erupted, and Nivera let out one of her own when she saw who the third party was.
“Mom?” She muttered under her breath
