Ruthless 34

She didn’t make it far. She should have known she wouldn’t.

Nivers had made it out of the party itself and was on her way out of the building, her fingers brushing against the exit door, when he appeared–silent as ashadow.

He said nothing at first. He didn’t need to. The look he gave her was enough to freeze her blood.

    He took a step forward.

“You made it this far, Cabezota,” he praised, his voice smooth like sik “Brave little thing”

Warning bells went off in Nivera’s head. He was not openly angry, not yelling–just that quiet, slow burning fury that promised something worse.

She instinctively stepped back–only for her spine to meet the cold wood of the door

Alejandro smiled, but it didn’t reach this eyes. “Come here, Nivera” She hesitated, and his eyes sharpened while a muscle ticked in his jaw

“You can walk back willingly, he murmured, inching closer. “Or I can drag you by your pretty little dress. Either way, you’re not leaving”

The choice wasn’t a choice. He know it

Nivera slowly, stiffly moved toward h her eyes.

him. Her hands were trembling slightly, but she kept her chin up, refusing to give him the satisfaction of seeing fear in

As soon as shej got to where he was, he stretched his hands to her, and she took it, not daring to further tempt him. “Wise choice, Cabeza”

They returned to the hall just in time for Marceline to approach them, looking amused

“Where are the newlyweds?” Alejandro immediately noticed they were missing from therge oil.

“The bride and groom have disappeared, she responded with augh. “Gone off to… celebrate privately, I assume. Left their own wedding”

Alejandro arched a brow but said nothing. His hand stayed firmly wrapped around Nivera’s wrist.

A slow, romantic song began to y–soft, heavy with emotion.

Marceline pped her hands together delightedly. “Well, you two are standing around doing nothing. Go dance!”

“–” Niveta began, desperate for an excuse.

“No arguments,” Marceline said firmly. “Go have some fun.”

    Alejandro’s grip tightened just slightly.

“You heard her, Caberota,” he said, voice light but eyes cold, “Let’s dance.”

Nivera swallowed hard as he pulled her onto the dance floor.

The music was slow, Romantic. Intimate.

Alejandro ced one hand on her lower back, the other holding hers with just enough pressure to make her bones ache.

He moved expertly–guiding her without effort–but his face stayed nk, save for the asional twitch of his mouth that suggested he was barely holding back something violent

Nivera’s earlier bravado drained out of her. She could feel the storm gathering inside him, coiled tight like a spring.

Why did she like to provoke people even after knowing the consequences wouldn’t be good for her?

“You’ve been quite the little rebel tonight,” Alejandro said quietly, spinning her slowly

“I just needed some air,” she muttered, it was a lie, they both knew it

“that what you’re going with?” He chuckled, and his fingers pressed deeper into her spine.

    “It’s the truth!” She insisted

“You think you can just walk away whenever you feel like it?”

“It’s not a crime to leave a party,” Nivers supped, trying to inject steel into her voice, and the look of satisfaction on his face made her realize that he had made her admit the truth.

He leaned down, his mouth brushing the shell of her ear.

“If you’re going to lie, at least be good at it.”

She was a good liar! He had just caught her off guard!

“How sweet of you to think you can leave when I’ve made it clear that you aren’t leaving me, Nivera. Not the party. Me

A shiver crawled down her spine over his words. The music continued to swell around them, other couplesughing and twirling, unaware of the dark battle happening right in their midst.

“I’m not yours,” she whispered fiercely.

Alejandro pulled back enough to meet her eyes. His smile was chillingly serene. “You are.”

They danced until the song ended, and Nivera had never been so relieved to hear silence.

    “It’s time to leave.”

Aherward, Alejandro approached his mother and kissed her goodbye. They then had a quick conversation while Nivera lingered awkwardly nearby.

Marceline turned to face her before they left, and she hugged her.

“I like you,” she whispered in her ear. “You’ve got spirit. Don’t lose it…no matter how tempting it might be to surrender”

Nivera stared at her, confused, but Marceline just patted her cheek fondly and turned away.

“Shall we?” Alejandro raised a brow as he led her out of the party. Earlier, that was all she wanted to do, but now, she wanted nothing more than to stay back at the party.

The ride home was silent. Alejandro drove one–handed, the other arm slung over the steering wheelzily.

they finally arrived at the mansion, Nivera wasted no time. She slipped out of the car and practically sprinted inside, as she didn’t want to face him

Alejandro didn’t stop her. He simply watched as she rushed in with a smirk on her face. Nivera made it to her room, mmed the door shut, and locked

it.

“What an utter fool, he remarked

Meanwhile, up in the room, Nivera’s heart thundered in her chest. She was safe for now.

She allowed herself to exhale – too soon because the next thing she knew the lock clicked and the door swung open, revealing Alejandro standing

How the hell was that possible? She had locked the dom. She was sure. So how…7

Before she could react, a metallic click snapped at her wrist, and when she looked at what the sound was, she was greeted with the sight of cold steel

“What the hell?!” she gasped, struggling to break free.

Alejandro only smiled, spinning her wrist once to secure the cuff around his wrist too

“Since you like running so much,” he murmured, tightening the chain between them, “I’m giving you a new challenge”

“And what challenge is that?” she spat, trying to yank away.

He tugged the chain sharply, dragging her flush against his chest.

“The one you’ve been trying to achieve, running away from me.”

Nivera opened her mouth to curse him- but he was already dragging her out of the room.

Down the hall, into his bedroom.

Not She screamed in her head as she tried to drag herself back, but what good was her strength against a man who looked like he was bred in the gym?

“Alejandro, please,” she pleaded, but he didn’t budge.

“Alejandro, I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.” She didn’t give up, but neither did he, and he pulled her into his room, taking her all the way to his bed.

-Struggling is just going to make matters worse,” Alejandro said to her as he unhooked her from his wrist and secured her cuff to the bed instead, locking it with a soft, chilling click.

“There,” he said, stepping back to admire his handiwork, which Nivera tried to figure out how he had worked so fast that she didn’t realize what he was doing till he was done.

“You like freedom? Fight for it.”

“Alejandro, please, you can’t do this to me,” she whimpered.

And then he smiled a dark, dangerous smile that promised she hadn’t even seen the worst of him yet.

tt have adist of worse things I could do to you; don’t tempt me
