Juniper obediently sat beside Madam. “Grandmother.”

Madam gently ced Cecilia’s hand over Juniper’s, softly instructing: “This is your sister Cecilia. You must get along well.”

Juniper’s expression turnedplicated–she’d never imagined Cecilia bing her sister.

    She nodded lightly. “Yes, Grandmother.”

    “Juniper.”

Cecilia took the initiative to greet her.

She and Juniper weren’t exactly close now, but they weren’t at each other’s throats like before.

    Madam was pleased.

She nudged them both. “I’ve had tea and snacks set up in the small garden. You can go see. We’ll call you for dinner.”

She wanted Cecilia and Juniper to bond more.

Cecilia stood up first. “Juniper, let’s go.”

Juniper had someone fetch an overcoat for Cecilia before heading to the small garden.

Madam watched them, a smile touching her lips.

Only the second wife’s eyes held gloom.

In the small garden, Cecilia settled casually into a seat while Juniper sat opposite, looking worn out.

Never one to hide her thoughts, Juniper spoke immediately: “Did my father really do those things?”

Cecilia gazed at the chrysanthemums in full bloom in the distance. “You must’ve looked into it already.”

Otherwise, she’d have made a scene like the second wife instead of asking this way. She’d grown up quite a bit.

Juniper hadn’t wanted to believe it at first and had investigators confirm it. The truth was unbearable.

Her father truly was the murderer who killed her uncle and aunt.

“Father must have had his reasons,” Juniper defended instinctively.

    “Reasons don’t justify murder.”

Cecilia sighed. She knew that Juniper hadn’t meant to say those things; she just couldn’t ept it yet.

Juniper covered her eyes, tears streaming down. She remembered how much her uncle and aunt had doted on her when she was little, always buying her pretty little dresses and treating her like their own daughter.

Her mother said it was because their eldest sister had gone missing, so her uncle and aunt poured all their affection into her.

Juniper was utterly heartbroken. “I’m sorry, Uncle and Aunt.”

    “Juniper, it’s not your

    fault.”

Cecilia wouldn’t me Holden’s actions on Juniper.

    She knew nothing about it.

Besides, she had already lost her father.

The two talked for quite a while. By dinnertime, Juniper’s mood had improved a lot.

At the dinner table, the only one in a bad mood was the second wife.

    She seemed especially gloomy.

After dinner, Madam asked Juniper to stay, but Juniper nced at the second wife and still left with her.

Madam sighed. “Juniper may be a bit spoiled, but she has a good heart. She’s afraid the second wife is upset and wants to go back to keep herpany.”

The third wife said softly, “Poor Juniper.”

    Outside, in the car.

The second Madam sneered at Juniper as soon as she got in the car, “Your father was killed by them. Not only have you made no effort to seek justice for him, but you’re all smiles. How can you face him?”

Juniper replied calmly, “I’ve investigated. Uncle and his family’s deaths were indeed connected to Father.”

Her face contorted with rage. “Even if they were, it should’ve been the police investigating! Since when did they get to drive your father to his death? Juniper, I see you couldn’t care less about your father’s fate.”

    “I do care.”

“You do? What were you and Cecilia whispering about outside for so long? You think I didn’t notice?”

The second Madam hissed venomously, “Your father caused the deaths of her parents and Johan’s. Once Johan takes control, do you truly believe he’ll treat you as a sister? They’ll only ever see you as the enemy.” Herst words carried deliberate weight.

Juniper’s heart clenched. She turned toward the window, silent.

    Enemies?

Parental grudges often ended this way.

The more the second Madam thought, the angrier she grew. She’d expected Juniper to stand with her, yet the girl had been won over by that old woman and Cecilia the moment they arrived. Utterly useless.

    The Carlton Group.

Elijah handed a document to Wesley, cautiously saying, “Mrs. Carlton has relocated all perfume materials. She intends to discontinue that production line permanently.”

Wesley didn’t look up, though his knuckles whitened around the pen.
