Shattered 284

    chapter284

    “Prenatal checkup.”

Wesley pulled her into the elevator.

Cecilia pulled her hand back. “I know.”

The prenatal checkup ended, and it was already four in the afternoon.

The baby was developing very well, and it was impossible to tell how much Cecilia had suffered during her first pregnancy.

Wesley apanied Cecilia through the checkup and arranged for the driver to take her back.

He was going on a business trip.

Cecilia had driven herself there, so she didn’t need the driver.

She went to the studio to pick up Gwendolyn, then returned to Chaston Vi.

As soon as she arrived at the entrance, she saw Larissa.

Larissa was pacing back and forth at the door.

Hearing the car, she immediately ran over and even eagerly tried to help Cecilia out of the car.

    Cecilia ignored her.

Larissa could only awkwardly withdraw her hand.

Once Cecilia got out of the car, Larissa immediately followed her.

    Chapter 284

    “Sis.”

Cecilia said coldly, “Why are you still here?”

Larissa bit her lip and said pitifully, “I came to beg for your forgiveness, Sis.”

Cecilia instructed the servant, “Don’t let her in.”

She isn’t Wesley, not that soft–hearted.

After dinner, Cecilia yed with Gun for a while, then coaxed

    her to sleep.

When she left the room, she realized it was raining outside.

The maid was pacing anxiously at the door, not knowing what to do.

    “Mrs. Carlton.”

Seeing Ceciliae out, the maid hurriedly said, “Ms. Wilburn is still outside.”

Cecilia walked to the window and looked down.

Larissa stood in the rain with her arms crossed, her clothes already soaked, her long hair hanging in strands.

    She looked utterly miserable.

“Mrs. Carlton, what should we do?”

    The maid asked cautiously.

Larissa is Wesley’s sister; if something really happens, they can’t bear the responsibility.

Cecilia watched quietly for a few minutes.

“Didn’t you tell her toe in?”

The maid didn’t dare lie, “We did, but Miss Larissa said she must get your personal permission before she dares toe in.”

Cecilia’s eyebrow twitched, sheughed meaninglessly; Larissa was secretlypeting, wanting her to back down first.

“Tell her, either go back or stand there.”

Cecilia has never been patient with Larissa.

    Let alone sympathy.

The autumn rain was cold; Larissa was freezing and couldn’t take it

    anymore.

    Why hasn’t Ceciliae yet?

Doesn’t she know she’s out here getting soaked?

Just as she was wondering whether to ask someone, the main gate opened. A servant came out, ryed Cecilia’s message, then mmed the door shut.

Larissa gritted her teeth in disbelief.

She was Wesley’s sister! How could Cecilia act this way? Wasn’t she afraid Wesley would fight with her over this?

The gate remained shut all night.

Cecilia rose, massaging her temples before washing up and stepping

    out.

The servant had been waiting outside. “Mrs. Carlton, Miss Larissa is still at the gate.”

She added softly, “She stood there all night, drenched in the rain.”

From the second–floor balcony, Cecilia looked down at Larissa’s unnaturally pale face.

    “Call an ambnce.”

The servant hurried downstairs to summon an ambnce.

Cecilia had no intention of letting Larissa use the family car.

Calling an ambnce was her utmost kindness.

Larissa had endured the rain all night, her lips turned pale from the cold.

Spotting Cecilia on the balcony, she mustered all her strength to shout, “Sister–inw! Won’t you forgive me?”

Cecilia’s expression remained nk. “Why should I?”

“Or perhaps you should ask–would Prisci forgive you? Would Grandma forgive you? Would Corrine forgive you?”

Larissa copsed to the ground, sobbing, “I truly know I was wrong.”

Her–agonized cries echoed like someone at the end of her rope.

    Yet Cecilia remained unmoved.

She even slid the balcony door shut.

Soon, an ambnce took Larissa to the hospital.

After standing all night in the rain, she quickly developed a fever.

When Mrs. Bradshaw arrived with Luna, Cecilia was curled up watching TV.

Her icy indifference made Mrs. Bradshaw break down instantly

Pointing usingly, she cried, “Cecilia! How can you lounge here watching TV after what you did to Larissa?”

Cecilia tilted her head. “What should I be doing?”

“You” Mrs. Bradshaw nearly fainted from rage.

The butler murmured, “Mrs. Carlton tried to persuade Miss Larissa to leave, but she insisted on staying outside…”

    “This doesn’t concern you.”

    Luna sharply rebuked.

The butler immediately fell silent, trembling.

In Luna Carlton’s eyes, Cecilia was utterly selfish.

She cared nothing for the Carlton family–that’s why she couldn’t stand Larissa.

“Cecilia, you’ve gone too far this time.”

Luna’s face darkened as she scolded, “With Wesley away, you make things hard for Larissa like this. Aren’t you afraid he’ll be furious when he returns?”

Cecilia replied indifferently, “I told her to leave. She chose to stand outside in the rain. How is that my concern?”
