Shattered 270

Cecilia lowered her head again, “No need to thank me. I don’t like her.”

    She spoke bluntly.

Amelia hummed, warning her, “Don’t be fooled by Yue’s smiling face. She’s vicious inside. Avoid meeting her.”

    Cecilia nodded, “Understood.”

Amelia had reached her limit by saying that much. She turned to leave and bumped into Fangfei standing behind her unnoticed.

    She walked away coldly.

Fangfei felt awkward but still carried a fruit te toward Cecilia.

She set the fruit before Cecilia, “Sis–inw.”

Cecilia disliked the address, frowning as she corrected, “Your brother and I haven’t remarried.”

    “Oh.”

Fangfei nodded, sat alone on the other side, and scrolled through her phone.

    In the study.

Yue frowned deeply, “Wesley, he’s still your father. How could you kick him out penniless? Amelia should’ve left after the divorce.”

Wesley leaned against the window, his voice coldly. “Since childhood,

how he treated me–you might not have seen it yourself, Aunt, but you must’ve heard stories. Kicking him out with nothing yet still giving him living expenses is already my greatest mercy toward him.”

“That’s your father. You still hold grudges?”

Chu Yue couldn’t understand. “He just loves to have fun.”

“And Larissa–since she’s eldest brother’s child, bring her home soon to im her birthright.”

Chu Yue nned ahead. “Her marriage with Johan must be maintained properly. Don’t let it affect our families‘ partnership.”

Wesley didn’t agree. “She still bears the Wilburn name.

    “Changing surnames is simple.”

Chu Yue softened her tone. “Wesley, I know you care about your mother’s feelings. Bringing Larissa home might upset her. But every family wants harmony and happiness.”

“You’ve had no siblings all these years. Who’ll share your burdenster? Larissa iming her birthright is good for us.”

    Wesley still wouldn’t budge.

He’d help this sister, but never let her carry the Chu name.

Chu Yue grew irritated. “Amelia couldn’t keep your father’s affection all these years, yet forbade him more children–how utterly selfish! Are you going to copy her and let this family wither?”

    Her words struck like thunder.

Frank cleared his throat. “Chloe, Wesley knows what he’s doing here. Stay out of it.”

Chloe reluctantly fell silent, then brought up another matter.

“I heard you shut down the perfume production lines?”

Her gentle expression turned stern as she questioned Wesley.

“Aunt, I’ll restructure the perfume division,” Wesley exined.

Chloe’s tone sharpened. “Cecilia is Sir’s apprentice after all. How could she be so useless?”

“This has nothing to do with Ci. It was my decision.”

“Let Fangfei manage the perfume division,” Chloe dered. “Keep the production lines operational for now.”

    “Aunt…

“Wesley, I was the one who pushed you into perfumes originally. If it’s be burdensome, let Fangfei gain some experience. I’ll cover all profits and losses.”

The perfume venture had indeed been Chloe’s brainchild, though it never gained momentum and was gradually sidelined.

After Cecilia married Wesley, responsibility shifted to her.

With Chloe putting it so bluntly, Wesley acquiesced.

“I’ll leave four production lines for Fangfei. The remaining one goes to Ci. Fangfei cannot touch it.”

Chloe shook her head. “Wesley, I really don’t know what to say to you.”

Alice was disappointed in her nephew. “Cecilia is Sir’s protégé and holds Gwendolyn’s notes. You should coax her into managing the

    R&D Department.”

She disdained Cecilia yet couldn’t bear to part with her resources.

    Victor noticed.

He wouldn’t let Alice pressure Cecilia.

    “She’s pregnant and needs rest.”

    Alice sighed, shifting topics.

“Another thing–your uncle–inw’s health is failing. I’ve brought him here. Have the hospital arrange care.”

    “His illness…”

Alice’s eyes reddened. “It’s worsening. Doctors say he’ll hold on for half a year.

Victor knew he’d touched a nerve and dropped the subject.

    He left the study.

Hearing the door shut, Aliceined, “Do Cecilia and Amelia call the shots in this house now?

Why must everything revolve around them?”

    Resentment simmered within her.

The Carlton family’s mistress could only be her–outsiders held no right.

Frank understood his daughter’s nature. “Wesley’s running the show now,” he urged. “Stand down.”

After a pause, he added firmly, “And put this Larissa matter to rest. I

    won’t allow it.”

    He disliked Larissa.

His own granddaughter disliked her too.

Chu Yue choked back her words. “Then the marriage alliance with the Johnson family…”

If Larissa took the Chu surname, this union would hold firm.

Frank remained silent, his clouded eyes seeing through everything.

He tapped the table. “Yue, I’ve said it–the Carlton family is under A Li’smand now.”

Chu Yue’s expression shifted subtly, her demeanor growing more deferential.

“Dad, I meant no harm. I’m just worried A Li’s youth might lead to impulsive decisions.”

No emotion flickered across Frank’s aged face.

For a moment, Chu Yue glimpsed her father’s former authority radiating from him.

Yet resentment still simmered within her.

    “Dad.”
