Shattered 252

    chapter252

As they walked hand–in–hand into the venue, Cecilia distinctly felt several hostile stares.

    One belonged to Amelia.

She’d already learned from Larissa about Wesley’s ns to remarry, but Wesley’s security detail kept her from getting close to Cecilia.

    Another came from Juniper.

She’d been sent abroad earlier, only permitted back for Johan’s wedding. She thought she still had a chance, yet here was Cecilia back at Wesley’s side.

    She hated Cecilia.

Cecilia met their gazes with unruffled poise, taking her seat beside Wesley in the front row.

Soft music flowed as joyous energy filled the air.

Cecilia watched Johan ahead, looking strikingly handsome in his tailored white suit. Yet his expression remained detached, devoid of a groom’s expected happiness.

To the rhythm of the wedding march, Larissa walked slowly on Dillon Wilburn’s arm.

A bashful smile graced her lips, her eyes filled with adoration for her fiancé

    She was finally marrying Johan

From this day forward, she’d be the esteemed Mrs. Johnson.

With Johan by her side, with Wesley’s support, she’d reign as Aetherton’s most esteemeddy.

Step by step, she walked toward Johan.

Finally, she stood opposite Johan, a blissful smile on her face.

    The minister recited the vows.

    “Johan.”

A voice, neither too loud nor too soft, rang out, interrupting the wedding ceremony.

Cecilia’s eyelid twitched, and she looked toward the other side.

Corrine wore a white gown with a red coat over it, her frail body looking as if it might be blown over by the autumn wind at any

    moment.

    She slowly walked forward.

    “Corrine.”

Cecilia stepped forward. “What brings you here?”

“Ci, I have a few words to say to Johan. Don’t worry.”

    Juniper blocked Corrine, quite rudely.

“Today is my brother’s wedding. Get out.”

Corrine chuckled softly, reaching into her pocket and pulling out a fruit knife.

    Juniper screamed and backed away.

Meanwhile, Wesley had swiftly pulled Cecilia into his arms.

“Corrine, have you lost your mind?

Or do you actually want to go to jail?”

    Larissa was furious.

Corrine’s presence here ruined her perfect wedding.

Johan’s pupils shook. “Corrine, don’t do anything reckless.”

    “Corrine, don’t.”

Cecilia murmured, her eyes filled with terror.

Only she had guessed Corrine’s intention, struggling to get Wesley to let go.

Wesley, afraid she might get hurt, held her by the waist and wouldn’t let her go.

“Wesley, she didn’t want to hurt others. She wanted to hurt herself…” Cecilia pleaded.

    Wesley heard her clearly.

He snapped into action, signaling his security team to seize the knife from Corrine’s grasp.

    But Corrine moved faster.

A faint smile touched her lips as she whispered, “Johan, this is my wedding gift to you.”

Blood streamed down her wrist, staining the greenwn crimson.

They’d expected her to attack others–not herself.

At Johan and Larissa’s wedding, Corrine had slit her own wrists.

Drop by drop, her blood fell, turning the greenwn crimson.

Though the knife was wrested away, security guards pinned her shoulders roughly, preventing any movement.

    The blood kept pooling.

    The wedding descended into chaos.

Corrine lifted her icy gaze, bypassing Johan entirely to fix on Larissa’s

    face–twisted crimson with rage.

She curved her lips into a smile.

Larissa saw the challenge zing in her eyes.

Only then did the truth crash over her: Corrine’s real objective.

And she saw it all too clearly–Johan kicking away the bodyguards holding Corrine, one by one.

He ripped off his tie, binding it tightly around Corrine’s wrist before scooping her into his arms.

Larissa snapped back to reality, gathering her wedding gown as she chased after him, tears already pooling.

    “You can’t leave.”

Even imperfect, the wedding must go on.

Johan frowned, his voice cial. “She’s hurt.”

    “Someone else can take her.”

Larissa hissed the words through clenched teeth.

If Johan walked out now, she’d be aughingstock.

No–the moment he lifted Corrine, she already was.

    Her pleading eyes found Wesley.

    Wesley and Cecilia were approaching.

Wesley’s expression hardened. “I’ll handle it.”

His piercing gaze locked onto Johan, pure warning.

Johan’s arms tightened around Corrine, hesitation flickering.

Cecilia covered her mouth, eyes wide with fear. “Corrine, stay awake. Stay awake!”

She let out a piercing cry, instantly hardening Johan’s wavering resolve.

He looked at Larissa. “I’m taking her to the hospital. I’ll be back soon.”

    “Wesley, handle things here.”

He strode out carrying Corrine in his arms,

leaving Larissa and the wedding behind.

    Cecilia followed them out.

    “Johan!”

Larissa screamed, copsing as her long gown tripped her. Pristine white wedding dress stained with blood, now soiled.

Her hands trembled. The gazes burning into her–pity, scorn,

    schadenfreude…

She didn’t dare lift her head, vision darkening.

Juniper jumped up, furious. “Bitches! They’re all bitches! Ruining a perfect wedding-”

    “Enough.”

    Wesley’s icy re cut through.

    Juniper swallowed her words.
