Cecilia stepped in front of Corrine to shield her. “Larissa, you want this changed and that changed. Why don’t you just have a new one made?”
Larissa was just stirring up trouble.
Larissa immediately looked aggrieved. “I paid for it. If the dress isn’t well made, can’t I give my opinion?”
She still remembered the time she wore a dress Corrine had designed for Cecilia, and the look of disdain on Corrine’s face.
Larissa was determined to get back at her for that humiliation.
Cecilia sneered. “You’re not giving feedback–you just don’t like the dress at all. If that’s the case, why did you order it from her in the first ce?”
Larissa bit her lip and looked at Wesley. “Wes, this is the dress I want to wear for the toast.”
With the marriage alliance settled, the two families quickly discussed the wedding arrangements, setting the date for next month.
Wesley was unwilling for any trouble to arise regarding the marriage.
He nced at Cecilia and, seeing her defending Corrine, his tone softened a little. “Ms. Morton, since you designed the dress, please oversee the alterations as you see fit.”
Corrine hadn’t spoken yet.

Cecilia had already retorted sarcastically, “Mr. Carlton doesn’t understand clothing, so it’s easy for him to say something like ‘just alter it.‘ But clothes have their own spirit and form. Minor changes are fine, but for major alterations, it’s better to remake it entirely.”
Her attitude was firm. “Larissa, whatever you paid, I’ll pay you three times that amount. Corrine can’t alter this dress.”
Corrine felt the same way.
She couldn’t alter it.
Besides, she’d rather refund the money than let Larissa wear a dress she designed to marry that man.
Just thinking about it was enough to make her feel sick.
She said, “Ms. Wilburn, please take off the dress and give it back to me. I don’t want you to have it anymore.”
Larissa moved closer to Wesley, her eyes reddening. “Wes.”
Wesley was silent for a few seconds, then looked at Cecilia.
“Ci, stop making a scene.”
He had already exined that Larissa and Johan’s marriage was a promise he made to give Larissa security.
Cecilia’s voice was especially indifferent. “Mr. Carlton’s sister is getting married, so of course she deserves the best. Corrine is just a minor designer; her work isn’t worthy of Mr. Carlton’s sister.”
Sheughed softly, but her words were sharp. “Or perhaps, Mr. Carlton and Ms. Wilburn, you know Corrine is my close friend and are deliberately trying to disgust me?”

Larissa’s eyes were misty, as if she might burst into tears at any
moment.
“I just wanted a unique custom dress, so I asked the shop owner. I didn’t know the owner hadmissioned Ms. Morton.”
Cecilia didn’t want to waste words here, so she asked Corrine how much the dress cost.
“I’ll handle it myself.” Corrine took out her phone and refunded the money to the shop owner.
Wesley pinched the bridge of his nose. “Larissa, take off the dress.”
Larissa had no choice but to go change. When she brought the dress out, it was carelessly draped, the hem trailing on the floor and picking up a patch of gray dirt.
“Sorry, I didn’t notice.” She apologized, not sounding sincere at all.
Corrine said nothing. She simply found a pair of scissors and, with a few quick snips, cut the dress into several pieces of rag.
Cecilia was startled by how clean and decisive her actions were.
“Corrine.”
Corrine returned the scissors to the staff and was about to throw the dress into the trash can.
The shop door was pushed open, and Johan walked in.
He didn’t see Cecilia and Corrine, but went straight to Larissa’s side, his fingers brushing the corner of her eye, his tone gentle.
“Weren’t you here to try on wedding dresses? Why are you crying?”

Larissa’s tears fell as she stared straight at Corrine.
Johan turned around, his gazending on Corrine, cold and indifferent.
He saw the dress that had already been cut to pieces.
“What happened?”
Larissa sobbed as she exined what had happened, adding, “I really didn’t know this dress was designed by Ms. Morton.”
Corrine felt suffocated and pulled Cecilia to leave.
“Wait.” Johan stopped them, his tone somewhat arrogant. “You were paid to do a job, so you should do it well. Ms. Morton, you certainly have an attitude, destroying the dress like that. You have no sense of professionalism.”
Corrine clenched her fists tightly.
Cecilia could tell something was wrong with her, and that it had to do
with Johan.
She remembered how Corrine had wandered the streets in a daze three
years ago.
Was that also because of Johan?
Corrine looked up at Johan. “What do you want?”
Johan demanded that she apologize,
