Chapter 183
Amelia suddenly broke down, taking two steps back and muttering, “Even you despise me now, is that it…?”
“Mom.”
“Enough, you’re just as ungrateful as your father.” Amelia cursed bitterly, deeply disappointed in her son.
She had arranged everything for the best, but her son had grown up and stopped listening.
Wesley was silent for a long moment before looking at Amelia expressionlessly. “You need to calm down.”
He led Cecilia away.
Once they got in the car, Wesley rubbed his brow wearily.
Cecilia sat quietly beside him, not asking a single question.
All of that was the Carlton family’s business, and had nothing to do with her.
“Ci… Ci…” Wesley suddenly called her name, his tone tinged with a gentle longing. “Bonnie always calls you Ci. Is it because you both have the same nickname?”
He was trying to use those memories to draw them closer.
Cecilia only responded with a faint “Mm.”
She didn’t want to talk to him.

Suddenly, Wesley reached out and pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly against his chest.
A burning warmth radiated from his strong chest.
“Ci.”
There was a hint of vulnerability in his voice as he lowered his head and buried it against Cecilia’s neck.
Cecilia stared at the car ceiling, her eyes cold, trying to pry his arms
away.
Suddenly, her body stiffened.
A warm liquid dripped onto her neck.
Was that… Wesley’s tears?
He was crying?
Was it because he had fallen out with Amelia?
Or was it for some other reason?
Cecilia closed her eyes and simply gave up struggling, letting him hold her.-
She didn’t know how much time had passed before his warm lips and tongue began to rain kisses all over her cheek.
Cecilia said mockingly, “Do you find this amusing?”
The kisses stopped.
But Wesley still refused to let go, his deep voice especially gentle.
“Ci, can we get remarried?”

Cecilia gripped the fabric of his shirt, her expression indifferent. “No.”
It had taken so much effort to get divorced; she would have to be crazy to go back.
She answered without hesitation. Wesley felt a pang in his heart, but still coaxed her, “I’ll have someone prepare a grand wedding…”
“Wesley.” Cecilia interrupted him, her eyes cold and clear. “Did we get divorced because there was no wedding?”
No, that wasn’t it.
It had nothing to do with those ceremonies.
They divorced because of Larissa.
But he always pretended not to understand.
Wesley gently stroked her long hair. Maybe it was all the recent stress, but her usually smooth hair was a little tangled.
Just like their rtionship–impossible to untangle.
And even if it could be smoothed out, it would still be messy, never returning to how it was before.
“Ci, I want to give you a wedding,” Wesley insisted stubbornly.
Cecilia found itughable. Did she really look like she wanted a wedding?
She straightened up in his arms.
For the first time since their divorce, she looked seriously into Wesley’s eyes and asked, “Wesley, you say you can’t let me go and want to remarry me, but you still can’t let go of Larissa. I’m really

curious–what exactly is your rtionship with her?”
Is it affection, or love?
Or is there some other reason that makes Wesley always unconditionally favor Larissa?
The car fell silent.
The atmosphere was stifling.
Cecilia let out a coldugh. If Wesley couldn’t even be honest, what right did he have to ask for remarriage?
“Wesley, as long as Larissa is around, there will never be anything between us.”
Larissa was a thorn in her heart–she wouldn’t rest until it was removed.
Wesley exined in a low, hoarse voice, “There’s never been anything improper between me and her.”
Cecilia was tired of hearing that exnation.
If it were really so innocent, why would he treat Larissa with such kindness and tolerance?
“I don’t believe you.” Cecilia leaned back, breaking free from his
embrace.
“I don’t believe you, Wesley.”
“Ci.”
“If she hadn’t run away from her wedding back then, she would be your Mrs. Carlton now. With a rtionship like that, do you really expect me to believe there’s nothing between you?”

He told Cecilia all of this, hoping she would understand that there was truly no possibility between him and Larissa
Besides, the arranged marriage had been his iden
If he really liked Larissa, how could he bear to let her po?
Cecilia closed her eyes, not wanting to say another word
So what if she pot married?
It was only because Larissa pot what she wanted, and he was willing to step aside for his childhood friend’s happiness.
