Chapter142

It was Larissa who had given her the idea to let Amelia know

    about it.

Naturally, Amelia would step in to stop it.

So Juniper found an opportunity to mention it.

As soon as Amelia heard, she immediately had Prisci’s whereabouts investigated.

She was determined to eliminate any factor that might affect her son’s marriage alliance with the Johnson family.

    The best hotel in Aetherton.

Prisci stood in the shadows on the second floor, two bodyguards in ck behind her, forced to watch the lively scene below.

Amelia leaned on the railing, her tone full of joy and pride. “Prisci, today I’ll show you just how grand and romantic my son’s engagement is.”

“See how much effort he’s put into Juniper.”

She had originally nned to lock Prisci up, but decided that to make her give uppletely, she had to let her witness with her own eyes just how grand Wesley and Juniper’s engagement was.

    So she brought her here.

Prisci had to witness firsthand how much the Carlton family valued Juniper as their daughter–inw.

After all, when Prisci married Wesley, there wasn’t even a wedding banquet.

With such a stark contrast, she didn’t believe Prisci wouldn’t

    be devastated.

Prisci said nothing, quietly watching the scene downstairs.

She didn’t have to look hard to spot Wesley. He was dressed in a wine–red suit, looking especially handsome, while Juniper beside him wore a pink gown, beautifully and carefully dressed.

The two of them moved among the guests, arm in arm.

A gentle and considerate smile was on Wesley’s face.

Prisci thought, it’s true that affection can be faked.

The emcee took the microphone and went up on stage. Amelia straightened her clothes and left gracefully.

After the emcee finished speaking, Wesley and Juniper went on stage. The two were to sign their names on the marriage certificate–Juniper’s idea.

She liked a sense of ceremony.

Only then could she feel at ease.

Just as they were about to sign, the doors of the banquet hall were pushed open.

    “Wait!”

Luciano stood at the entrance, holding arge megaphone.

Because of that, his shout was even louder than the music in the hall, drawing everyone’s attention.

Juniper had a bad feeling, her smile bing forced. “Wes, let’s just sign first.”

Wesley put down the pen, looking coldly at Luciano striding

    over.

Luciano walked up to them, nced at the marriage

certificate, tossed aside the megaphone, and said, “Wesley, we need to talk.”

Wesley arrogantly lifted his chin and sneered indifferently.

“If this is about your son’s illness, just wait a few days. Maybe if I’m in a good mood, I’ll be willing to save your son.”

Amelia stepped forward. “Luciano, whatever it is, wait until the ceremony is over. Please step down for now.”

Luciano only looked at Wesley. “Three minutes. If you still want to get engaged after you hear me out, I won’t bother you anymore.”

The smile on Wesley’s face gradually faded. He was shrouded in gloom, deep in thought, no one knowing what he was thinking.

“Wes, don’t listen to him. Let’s sign first.” Juniper urged, even writing her own name first.

But Wesley did not pick up the pen.

    He nodded at Luciano. “Speak.”

Luciano took a piece of paper from his pocket. “Take a look at

    this.”

What he handed Wesley was the paternity test report for Prisci and Noah.

“Prisci has nothing to do with Noah,” Luciano exined.

He hoped the paternity test would help Wesley make the right decision.

After reading the report, Wesley pped it against Luciano, his tone full of disdain. “You think a piece of paper like this will make me believe there’s nothing between you and her?”

He curled his lips in a mean smile, giving Luciano no face at all.

“For the sake of your son, she could evene up with something like this. And you still im you two aren’t truly in love?”

“What, am I, Wesley, just meant to be deceived by you?”

Luciano frowned. He hadn’t expected Wesley not to believe the paternity test, and instead think Prisci was behind it.

“Wesley, she doesn’t know I came to see you.”

“Besides, getting engaged now is unfair to her.”

This was a humiliation for Prisci.

Wesley narrowed his eyes, a hint of malice in them.

“Is her family background better than Juniper’s, or is she more beautiful than Juniper?”

“Would any normal man choose a woman like her, who got pregnant before marriage?”

He spoke freely, not noticing that Amelia kept ncing toward the second floor.

She was pleased that her son saw things this way.

But Prisci was already in tears.

She finally understood why Wesley had so readily agreed to get the divorce certificate.

It was because he thought she was unworthy of him for having a child out of wedlock.
