Shattered 129

    Chapter129

    The summer sun was scorching.

Prisci had been kneeling for half an hour, her face flushed red from the sun, sweat soaking through her clothes.

    Noah was her only support.

Just then, the sound of a car suddenly came from nearby.

The car door opened so close it almost brushed her face, and a pair of silver high heels stepped onto the ground.

Juniper got out of the car.

She let out a mocking, lowugh: “Ms. Wilburn, what mistake have you made this time? Let me guess, so it turns out you’re just a loose woman who got pregnant before marriage.”

Prisci looked at her without much expression, her gaze shifting across to meet Wesley’s eyes.

She bit her lip lightly, feeling somewhat humiliated.

Wesley only nced at her before looking away.

Juniper trotted forward, linking her arm with Wesley’s in a showy manner, and the two of them walked inside.

Prisci watched their backs–they looked like a perfect match.

    Her chest felt unbearably tight.

In the living room, Dillon had alreadye forward

He once again marveled at his younger daughter’s excellence- she had be Mr. Carlton’s sister and was also good friends with Ms. Johnson.

For the first time, he felt that Larissa was more useful than

    ude.

It was right to keep his daughter here.

Wesley nodded, while Juniper greeted politely, “Uncle.”

Wesley took a slow sip of tea, nced outside, and asked, “What’s going on out there?”

A hint of embarrassment shed across Dillon’s face. “I failed to teach my daughter well. Sorry to let you see such a joke.”

Tania chimed in, “We only just found out–Prisci, she… she actually has a three–year–old child.”

She pretended to be upset, lowering her head and wiping away nonexistent tears with the back of her hand. “We didn’t know she did such shameful things back home. We really owe you an apology.”

Wesley said nothing, his expression unreadable, making it impossible to guess what he was thinking.

He said calmly, “I know about this. I know the child’s father.”

Dillon was taken aback. “You know him?”

    “It’s Luciano.”

    “Luciano Wilkinson?”

In Aetherton, the Wilkinson family held a prestigious status.

Unlike the Carlton family, who had been merchants for generations, almost everyone in the Wilkinson family went into politics, except for Luciano and his aunt Gwendolyn Wilkinson, who were rebellious and refused to follow the

    family’s arrangements.

Luciano became awyer, and Gwendolyn became a perfumer.

Three years ago, something happened to the Wilkinson family–Gwendolyn died, and Luciano went abroad.

Since then, the Wilkinson family had kept a much lower profile.

But still, countless people were desperate to form a connection with them.

Dillon felt like he was sitting on pins and needles.

The thought that he might be inws with the Wilkinson family made his heart crawl with anxiety.

He looked to his wife, hoping she would give him an out and let Prisci off the hook.

But Tania only lowered her head and pretended to drink tea. Ever since their son ude went abroad, she had acted as if Prisci was no longer her daughter.

Having Prisci kneel under the zing sun was just the right way to vent her anger.

As for the Wilkinson family, she saw things more clearly than her husband. If the Wilkinson family truly acknowledged Prisci, why would Luciano have taken the child abroad

    alone?

There was no ce for Prisci in the Wilkinson family.

Dillon, not getting a response from his wife, felt a bit

    awkward.

Outside, Prisci received a call from Luciano–Noah needed an injection and was crying for her.

Prisci looked at the tightly closed front door, gritted her teeth, andforted him softly.

    She couldn’t give up halfway.

After a moment’s thought, she simply closed her eyes and copsed to the ground.

A servant rushed into the living room, shouting, “Ms. Prisci has fainted!”

Dillon immediately stood up. Fainting was perfectly timed–if she kept kneeling, who knew if Luciano would get angry.

    Wesley also stood up.

“Wes, you’re here.” Larissa appeared on the stairs, rubbing her eyes as if she had just woken up. “Why didn’t you call me

    when you arrived?”

Juniper stepped forward and took her arm. “I heard you

stayed upte testing perfumes. Wes was worried about you and said not to disturb you.”

At that moment, Prisci was being carried in by the servants under Dillon’s direction and ced on the sofa,

She happened to hear Juniper’s words.

She was d she was ‘unconscious‘ now, so she didn’t have to see Wesley doting on Larissa.

Larissa seemed to notice Prisci for the first time. “What happened to Prisci?”

    Juniper pretended to exin.

Larissa covered her mouth in shock, her eyes reddening. “Wes, I’m sorry, I didn’t know Prisci actually…”
