Shattered 124

“It was all just to please you.” Prisci stubbornly lifted her head to look at him, her tears glimmering. “Did you really believe it?”

Wesley let go of her, looking at her quietly as if she were a

    stranger.

So all those so–called affections in the past were just her saying one thing and meaning another.

Now that Luciano was back, she didn’t need him anymore and discarded him like an old shoe.

“Prisci, you’re really something, truly something.” Wesley was furious, his smile full of gloom.

He straightened up and sat on the other side, all tenderness gone, leaving only coldness. “Prisci, you know I’m a vengeful person.”

“You want a divorce to go to Luciano? How could I possibly let you have your way?”

His heart had turned cold, and he no longer showed any mercy.

Prisci looked at Wesley’s cold profile, her heart bleeding with pain. “Wesley, there are plenty of women who want to be your wife. You don’t have to have me.”

Wesley didn’t even nce at her, sneering. “I really don’t have to have you.”

He got out of the car, his voice cold. “Pack your things and get out.”

    The car door mmed shut.

    The car started.

Prisci watched Wesley through the rearview mirror and saw Juniper run up to him.

She couldn’t help but burst into tears.

He was so angry, yet he still left her in the car and got out himself…

He had bullied her before, and now that she was heartless toward him, it was finally even.

Prisci didn’t return to the vi, but instead asked the driver

to take her to the small house where she used to live.

Standing in the living room, she felt even more upset.

After all themotion, she still ended up back here.

The bad mood didn’tst long. Prisci quickly pulled herself together and asked Eldridge in detail about Noah’s condition. She learned that if a bone marrow match could be found,

there was still hope for the child.

She tidied herself up and hurried to the hospital to get tested for a match.

Eldridge also went to get tested.

Noah was an extremely adorable child, and they all hoped he could grow up safe and sound.

When Luciano heard the news, he was moved. His cold expression softened considerably.

Especially toward Prisci, he felt a deep sense of gratitude. “Ms. Wilburn, may I have a word with you?”

Prisci went with him to the corridor outside.

Luciano first apologized to Prisci for what happenedst time, then asked seriously, “Are you Noah’s mother?”

Prisci looked steadily at Luciano. “You…”

    “I lost my memory.”

Luciano pointed to his head. “Three years ago, I was injured in an ident. When I woke up, I remembered nothing except that Noah was my son.”

“Amnesia,” Prisci murmured, barely able to control her emotions. “You actually lost your memory.”

    Could this be fate?

Luciano waited for Prisci to process this fact. Come to think of it, Noah did resemble her a little.

If she really was Noah’s mother, it wasn’t such a hard fact to ept.

Still, he felt as if something was missing inside.

“Ms. Wilburn?” Seeing Prisci remain silent for a long time, he gently reminded her.

Prisci took a deep breath, looked seriously at Luciano, and said solemnly and slowly, “I am Noah’s mother.”

Luciano’s expression rxed. So it was true. He hesitated, then said, “Then between us…”

Prisci shook her head, cutting him off. “There is nothing between us.”

“I insisted on having the child myself. It had nothing to do with you. Later, when I found out he was sick, I gave him to

    you.”

    Luciano fell silent.

    He could understand.

After all, being a single mother was already hard enough, let alone when the child was ill.

Prisci’s voice softened. “You don’t need to feel any psychological burden. I’m here only for the child. I have no intention of getting involved with you.”

    Luciano nodded. “I understand.”

Prisci breathed a sigh of relief and asked him, “Can I go see

    Noah now?”

    Luciano agreed readily. “Of course.”

He added, “You cane whenever you want.”

Prisci pressed her lips together and gave a sincere smile.

They turned and entered the ward together, their backs looking somewhat well–matched.

At the end of the corridor, Wesley had been standing for a long time, watching for a long time.

So she really did have a past with Luciano, and even had a

    child.

His heart felt as if it were being torn apart, bleeding profusely.

Wesley let out a self–mockingugh, turned and left, and took out his phone to call Amelia.

“I agree to the engagement with Juniper.”

Amelia was overjoyed. “Wes, you’ve finallye around.”

But Wesley had already hung up.
