Shattered 109

She lifted the covers to get up, but her head spun and she copsed weakly.

Wesley caught her, noticed her unnaturally flushed face, tucked her back under the covers, and hurried out to find a

    doctor.

The doctor came and took her temperature: 39.5 degrees.

“Give me an injection,” Prisci said weakly, resting her hand on her forehead.

Injections work faster. She had something important to do tomorrow night and needed to be in good shape.

The doctor nced at Wesley, and after getting his approval, immediately went to make arrangements.

After the injection, Prisci drifted off to sleep.

Wesley gently shook her. “There’s a press conference tomorrow. ude will admit to what he did at the

    conference.”

“Okay.” Prisci curled further under the covers.

Wesley pulled the covers up for her and leaned in so close he was almost whispering in her ear: “After the press conference, he’ll be put on a ne to go abroad. Do you want to go to the airport to see him off?”

Prisci forced herself to stay awake and asked, “What time?”

    “Four in the afternoon.”

    She nodded. “I’ll go.”

Such an important asion–of course she had to be there to witness it.

A different emotion flickered in Wesley’s eyes. He touched her forehead again and didn’t disturb her further.

After her fever subsided, her breathing grew deeper.

Only then did Wesley carefully lie down beside her, gently wrapping his arm around her.

His eyes were dark and turbulent.

When Prisci woke up, Wesley was already gone.

He didn’t show up at all that morning.

It wasn’t until two in the afternoon that Corrine sent her a

    video.

The video was of the press conference held by the Carlton Group, where ude publicly admitted that he was the one who leaked the Holiday Series form, and that it had nothing to do with Prisci.

Thement section was filled with angry criticism.

There were also people who didn’t know the truth,

questioning whether, since they were siblings, ude was just taking the me to protect Prisci.

But those people were quickly informed about ude’s history of violence.

Corrine sent a few more videos, showing executives from a rivalpany admitting to bribing research staff to obtain the form.

    Prisci was the victim.

    She was sending messages.

“Wesley actually did something decent this time.”

“Looks like Larissa’s charm isn’t all that after all.”

    She sounded rather gloating.

Prisci replied: “After all, the Carlton Group suffered a huge

    loss this time too.”

Otherwise, Wesley wouldn’t have handled things so impartially.

Prisci’s ount was flooded with apologies, and her follower count was rising rapidly.

She skimmed through them and then put her phone down.

She returned to her small apartment, changed into a beautiful outfit, put on some light makeup, and then headed to the airport.

She was going to see ude off.

    Prisci had timed it perfectly.

When she arrived, ude’s flight was set to depart in ten

She walked in slowly, immediately drawing a host of hostile

    stares.

Especially Tania, who looked like she wanted to pounce on her and tear her apart, but was held back by Dillon.

Dillon’s feelings wereplicated; he had never once bet right on this daughter, Prisci.

He thought Wesley had abandoned her, but then both of them filed for divorce, and suddenly Wesley started treating her well again.

Later, he thought Frank was done with her and the divorce was certain, but then Frank’s attitude became ambiguous.

Especially when he remembered how Wesley had deliberately cut him off with his car… He wasn’t stupid; he had been too shocked at the time to realize Wesley would do such a thing, but he figured it out afterward.

Any good impression he had left in Wesley’s eyes was nowpletely gone.

ude sat there, shrouded in gloom.

Larissa bit her lip, her eyes red and swollen, looking both sad and angry.

“Prisci, you’re not wee here.” She choked back a sob and stood up to block Prisci’s way.

That frail yet protective stance was truly moving.

Tania rushed over to hug her daughter, ring viciously at Prisci. “Get out.”

Prisci hade here specifically to watch the show; there was no way she would leave just because they didn’t wee her.

A faint, undisguised look of schadenfreude appeared on her face. “We’re all Wilburns, so of course I have toe see him off.”

“You…” Tania’s finger trembled as she pointed straight at Prisci, shaking with anger.

“Prisci, you said yourself you’re a Wilburn, so why are you so cold–blooded, forcing ud to leave?” Larissa questioned weakly, tears streaming down her face.

“Just being a Wilburn, that’s all.” Prisci emphasized the “that’s all” at the end.
