Shattered 101

    Chapter101

“Back when Larissa ran away from the wedding, you settled for marrying me. When she came back, you were entangled with her. Now that we’re getting divorced, you say you like me…”

    “Ha, aren’t you shameless?”

Her words were sharp and biting, as if she didn’t notice the darkness already clouding Wesley’s face.

“Did you just call me cheap?”

Wesley’srge, well–defined hand gripped her chin, a cold sneer escaping his lips.

Her contemptuous insults were like sharp knives, scraping at the deepest part of Wesley’s heart.

Prisci gave a faint smile, her voice especially soft: “You know better than anyone whether you’re cheap or not.”

Wesley was furious to the extreme, a violent aura radiating from him.

Prisci almost had the illusion that he would p her the very

    next second.

“So this is how you trample on my sincerity… Fine, I’m the cheap one.”

He flung her away and strode off.

Prisci watched his angry back, tears streaming down her face. She pressed her forehead hard against the wall, trying to stifle her sobs.

Wesley hade back to help her and hadn’t sided with ude. She could feel his feelings for her.

    She was wavering.

But then she thought of how Frank had ordered Dillon to harass her again and again, nearly driving Bonnie to her

    grave.

It was hard for her to stay calm.

Frank’s threats, if they happened once, could happen again- and she couldn’t bear the consequences of a second time.

Between Wesley and Bonnie, she could only choose Bonnie.

    So be it.

    Let it end like this.

End this unequal marriage that had been wrong from the very

    start.

Wesley walked to the elevator with a dark expression. As the doors opened, Elijah stepped out.

He was carrying the medicine the servant had just brought “Mr. Carlton.”

Wesley’s eyes darkened as he stared at the medicine, his mind filled with the image of Prisci’s mocking smile as she called him cheap.

He let out a self–deprecatingugh. In her eyes, all his efforts and attempts to make amends were worth nothing more than that one word: cheap.

“Take all the medicine to her and let her brew it herself,” he ordered coldly.

Elijah quickly realized that Mr. Carlton must have quarreled with his wife again.

    “Yes, Mr. Carlton.”

He brought the medicine into the ward, only to see Mrs. Carlton sitting nkly in a chair, her eyes red and swollen.

He quietly exined about brewing the medicine.

Prisci nodded dazedly, her voice hoarse, “I understand.”

    Elijah left quietly.

Bonnie woke up groggily several times. After Prisci gave her the medicine, she seemed a bit better.

Prisci breathed a sigh of relief and went out to arrange the transfer to another hospital.

The doctor said in surprise, “Sir Carlton instructed that

Madam Wilburn’s health is poor and she should stay here for further treatment.”

Prisci pressed her lips together. What was Frank plotting this time?

    She insisted on transferring hospitals.

The doctor looked behind him and called out, Sir Carlton.

Frank said calmly, “Your grandmother’s health is poor. She shouldn’t be moved around.”

Prisci’s eyes reddened. Bonnie’s poor health was all thanks to him, and now he was pretending to care and asking them to stay. It wasughable.

But she had learned her lesson. Knowing she was powerless, she kept those thoughts to herself.

    She said nothing.

Frank regretted it too, but he refused to admit his mistakes and still didn’t dare face that person.

He made a promise: “That kind of thing will never happen again.”

“Stay and take good care of your grandmother.”

Since Frank wouldn’t let them transfer, Prisci had no choice

    but to stay.

During this time, she received a call from Tania. As soon as she heard the voice, she hung up.

    Tania was pleading for ude.

    But she would not forgive.

And going abroad was already the lightest punishment for ude.

Larissa’s eyes were brimming with tears, her fair face full of regret. “It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have offended Prisci, but now ud has to suffer for me.”

ude was also frustrated, but seeing his beloved little sister apologizing with red eyes, his heart softened.

“Don’t worry, ud. I’ll go to Prisci tomorrow and tell her the truth. If she wants me to go to jail or punish me however she wants, I’ll ept it. It’s what I deserve.”

“At the press conference, I’ll rify everything too, clear your name, ud. You did nothing wrong. You just love me too much.”

“I’ve already dragged you down. I can’t let you suffer for me anymore.”

ude’s anger melted away at her tearful, pitiful look.

He reached out to ruffle his sister’s hair, his tone softening. “Don’t cry. It’s just a few years abroad. Think of it as an experience.”
