    Chapter97

Dillon hardened his heart. “Mom, if you still won’t agree, I’ll have to take her away.”

Bonnie’s face turned ashen as she trembled and asked, “Where are you taking her?”

“However long ud is in prison, that’s how long she’ll be locked up.”

    “You wouldn’t dare.”

“Why wouldn’t I?” Dillon’s anger red. “ud is my only son, and you want him in prison–prison!”

He had been holding back his anger for a long time.

He couldn’t understand why his mother favored Prisci.

Before, Wesley was her husband, so she had value. But now that Wesley had divorced her and was about to marry into the Johnson family, she was nothing.

To sacrifice a son for a daughter who had no value–Dillon would have to be crazy to do that.

“You…” Bonnie clutched her chest, her body swaying.

Prisci felt as if her heart were being cut by a knife. She cried out hoarsely, “Grandma!”

“Dillon Wilburn.” She gritted her teeth, calling him by his full name. “Are you trying to kill Grandma?”

“You’re the jinx who’s killing her!” Dillon shouted. “I should be asking you–are you really going to just watch Grandma die from anger?”

With a thud, Bonnie copsed to the floor.

“Grandma, no!” Prisci screamed, all her resolve crumbling in that instant.

“I’ll drop thewsuit. Just get a doctor to save Grandma!”

    She sobbed, finally giving in.

Dillon let out a long sigh of relief and signaled the

    bodyguards to release Prisci.

Prisci scrambled to Bonnie’s side, her hands trembling as she gathered Bonnie’s frail body into her arms.

    “Grandma.”

    “Don’t scare me.”

    “Call the doctor!”

Fortunately, Dillon wasn’t so heartless as to watch his mother die. He pressed the bell to call the doctor.

Prisci was ushered out by the doctors.

She stood at the door, staring nkly through the half–open hospital room door, her face streaked with tears.

Bonnie, you have to get better.

Dillon said with disgust, “If you had agreed to drop thewsuit earlier, none of this would have happened.”

“Grandma really wasted her love raising you.”

He cursed angrily, trying to cover up his own guilt.

Prisci was unmoved; all her thoughts were on Bonnie.

She regretted ever going head–to–head with the Wilburn family.

She knew they would use Bonnie to threaten her, so why couldn’t she just give in?

Why did she have to drag Bonnie into this?

For someone as despicable as ude, she had nearly gotten Bonnie killed.

The doctor came out, removed his mask, and said wearily, “If you want the olddy to live a few more years, stop upsetting her.”

He really didn’t know if they brought her to the hospital to save her or to hasten her death.

Prisci rushed back into the room and gripped Bonnie’s hand tightly.

Dillon followed behind and asked, “About ude…”

“I’ll drop thewsuit.” Prisci didn’t even look back, her tone filled with a sense of resignation.

Dillon was no longer as forceful as before. “Prisci, ude is your brother. You’re twins–you should be closer than anyone. How can you do this to him?”

“Besides, you’re already divorced from Mr. Carlton. In the

Her hatred and disgust for Dillon had reached its peak. She was only enduring for Bonnie’s sake.

    She reminded herself to endure.

Seeing that Prisci ignored him, Dillon couldn’t be bothered to say more.

He was in a hurry to pick up his son.

    The hospital room quieted down.

Prisci covered her mouth and wept silently.

She didn’t know how much time had passed when there was another click from outside.

Prisci wiped away her tears and turned to see Frank.

    She stood up in silence.

Frank showed no expression. “You made quite amotion.”

Prisci thought she had disturbed him and immediately apologized.

She still remembered Frank telling her to leave Aetherton for three years, and added, “I’ll leave as soon as I get the divorce certificate.”

But Frank shook his head, his tone cold and harsh. “Prisci, you haven’t done well enough.”

Frank nced at the person lying in the hospital bed. He couldn’t see the face clearly, but it was obvious they were close to death.

Prisci’s muddled mind instantly cleared. She opened her eyes wide in disbelief, already understanding.

    “It was you?”

No wonder, even with the security system, Dillon was able to bring people in.

“Why?” She took a step back, leaning against the hospital bed, instinctively protecting Bonnie.

Frank’s aged face was filled with authority and contempt. “This is the price of disobedience.”

He had already said it: she was to leave Aetherton and not return for three years.
