Shattered 89

    Chapter89

He immediately retorted with sarcasm, “You did a great job raising her–so disrespectful to her elders, so cold to her siblings. You really did a wonderful job.”

“You…” Bonnie clutched her chest, unable to speak.

    Her face suddenly turned pale.

Prisci was so frightened she trembled all over and quickly called for a doctor.

While the doctor was resuscitating Bonnie, Prisci stood to the side, watching as Bonnie’s face turned ashen.

It was as if she would never wake up again.

Tears fell from the corners of her eyes, carrying silent pain.

Fortunately, the doctor arrived in time and managed to stabilize Bonnie’s condition.

He said sternly, “The patient is elderly. You’d better not agitate her any further.”

Their argument had been so loud that nearly the entire floor had heard it.

They hadn’t considered the patient’s well–being at all.

“Move the patient to the room at the end of the corridor,” a cool male voice sounded.

He caught a glimpse of Prisci’s restrained expression and reddened eyes, and his brows furrowed with concern.

Hepletely ignored Dillon and his wife.

He gently put his arm around Prisci’s shoulders, his tone soft. “The room down the corridor is much quieter. Grandma can rest better there.”

Prisci knew about those rooms–there were only two, reserved for the most core members of the Carlton family, people like Frank.

Even Wesley’s own parents weren’t qualified to use them.

Wesley letting Bonnie stay there was a sign of respect for her.

Prisci’s battered heart felt a trace of warmth, and she

thanked him in a hoarse voice.

After all, when it came to Dillon and his wife, she truly didn’t

    know what to do.

If she argued, she was afraid of upsetting Bonnie.

If she didn’t, they would only target her and Bonnie even

    more.

Wesley’s arrangement was a timely help in her hour of need.

She felt grateful in her heart.

The doctor quickly arranged for Bonnie to be moved to another room.

Dillon watched all of this, puzzled. Wesley and Prisci were divorced, so why did he seem to treat her even better now?

He began to regret the way he had treated Prisci before.

If he had known Wesley still cared about Prisci, he would have held back a little.

Bonnie was moved to the room at the end of the corridor, which required an ess card to enter or leave.

The ess card was given only to Prisci.

Tania was dissatisfied and wanted to argue, but Dillon stopped her.

He was good at reading the situation and walked over to Wesley, saying, “ud is young and reckless. Sorry for the trouble he’s caused you.”

And it was no small trouble.

If Wesley hadn’t taken a bold gamble at thest moment and broken the rival’s cash flow, it would have been the Carlton Group that suffered a major blow.

Dillon admired Wesley–so young, yet so decisive.

Wesley showed little expression. To be honest, he liked Dillon less and less these days.

That face was full of petty calction.

    It was off–putting.

He said coolly, “ude crossed my bottom line.”

The meaning was clear: this time, he would not forgive easily.

Dillon was confused. Hadn’t Wesley hinted to Larissa to bring Bonnie to Aetherton? Didn’t that mean he intended to let the matter slide?

    He couldn’t understand.

“Wes, ude is just spoiled by his mother. It’s good for him to suffer a little, just don’t let it go on too long.” Dillon was quick to change his tune.

“And Larissa keeps thinking ud did it all for her. She’s very anxious and has been crying nonstop.” He tried to y the emotional card with Larissa.

Wesley’s brows furrowed, and his tone was no longer as hard as before.

“Let’s talk about it in a few days.”

That was a sign ofpromise, and Dillon was overjoyed.

Wesley didn’t bother to say more and turned to find the doctor.

Frank’s old illness had red up again, and he needed to stay in the hospital for a few days. Wesley hade early to make arrangements.

So the old man wouldn’t be dissatisfied and nitpick everything.

Prisci took a towel and gently wiped Bonnie’s hands and face.

The wrinkles on Bonnie’s face had deepened.

When Grandpa passed away, Bonnie was not even sixty. After Dillon and his wife finished the funeral, they took their son with them, but didn’t ask a single question about how the old mother and daughter would manage in the future.

A widow in her fifties with a little girl only a few years old- though they were not short of money, life was still hard. What’s more, the son who should have taken responsibility for the family at this time never returned.
