Shattered 67

    Chapter67

After thinking for a moment, she knocked on the door and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Wesley said he was fine, but his face clearly didn’t look good.

He threw up a few more times after that.

Bonnie followed along, worried. “Did he eat something bad?”

But the three of them had eaten dinner together, and it didn’t make sense that Bonnie, who was in worse health, was fine, while the strong and healthy Wesley had a problem.

Bonnie was still uneasy and told Prisci to take Wesley to the clinic.

Prisci was reluctant, but thinking of Amelia’s thunderous temper, if anything happened to Wesley, she was afraid Amelia woulde and turn the house upside down.

She had no choice but to take Wesley to the clinic.

After the doctor’s inquiry, it was determined that Wesley was suffering from limatization issues and needed an IV drip.

Prisci went to pay the bill.

Once the IV was started, Wesley looked even paler.

He leaned against the stainless–steel chair, his brows furrowed.

Prisci thought for a moment, then brought him a cup of hot water. “Have some water.”

Wesley just sniffed it near his nose and handed it back.

He disliked the taste of the hot water.

Prisci sat down beside him and mocked, “Someone as

precious as you–if anything happens, your mother will tear me apart.”

She always remembered the punishment Amelia had given her before.

Wesley nced at her expressionlessly and closed his eyes.

Prisci’s sarcastic words were like punchesnding on cottonpletely ineffective, leaving her feeling stifled.

She lowered her eyes to her phone and said nothing more.

Halfway through the night, Wesley’s phone rang.

Prisci nced over and saw the name “Larissa” disyed

    on the screen.

    She withdrew her gaze expressionlessly.

Wesley answered the call right in front of Prisci. “Larissa.”

Prisci was sitting right next to Wesley, so she could catch bits and pieces of Larissa’s words, though not clearly. She could only tell that Larissa sounded anxious.

Wesley’s expression didn’t change, and his voice was as gentle as ever.

“You need to learn to handle these things on your own.”

    He hung up the phone.

Prisci was quite surprised–Wesley had actually hung up on the childhood sweetheart he always cherished.

Was the sun going to rise in the west tomorrow?

“Sounds like it’s pretty urgent. Aren’t you going back?” Prisci asked, clearly just waiting to see the drama unfold.

Wesley turned to look at her, his dark eyes deep.

Prisci made a zipping motion across her lips.

She shouldn’t have asked–Wesley would definitely think she was gloating over Larissa’s misfortune.

Although, that was exactly what she was thinking.

“There’s a problem with the new Holiday Series perfume, so theunch has to be postponed,” Wesley didn’t hide anything.

“Larissa called me, hoping I’d go back and take charge.”

The Carlton Group had plenty ofpetitors; even the slightest disturbance was enough for them to make a big deal out of it.

For example, this time, people were already marketing the idea that Larissa wasn’t as capable as the former director, Prisci.

Some even said that Wesley’s nepotism was the reason for the perfume’s problems.

The cheating scandal and the childhood sweetheart drama were once again being hyped up.

In short, the current situation was very unfavorable for both Larissa and Wesley.

Prisci held the cup of hot water, now cooling in her hand, and nodded in agreement. “You really should go back. After all, she can’t manage without you.”

Wesley could hear the sarcasm in her words and replied calmly, “She’s the R&D director now. She has to face all kinds of problems. She can’te running to me every time

    something goes wrong.”

Prisci stared at Wesley without blinking.

She was both surprised and caught off guard.

“You don’t feel sorry for her?”

Wesley rubbed his temples, looking a bit unwell.

“How far she can go in this field from now on depends on her own abilities.”

Prisci’s expression was cold and distant; she didn’t want to discuss this topic.

No matter how pure his rtionship with Larissa was, the fact remained that he had abandoned his wife and child for her.

“You should go back. The Holiday Series perfume is important, and so is your health,” Prisci advised.

Wesley wasn’t so self–absorbed as to think Prisci actually cared about his health.

She just wanted him to hurry back to Aetherton.

But he had no intention of leaving.

“It’s just limatization. If I stay a few more days, I’ll get used to it.”
