Chapter44
No, Larissa wasn’t unable to understand–she just chose to ignore it, being used to putting herself at the center of everything.
The Wilburn family had spoiled her growing up, making her take it for granted that everyone should revolve around her.
But Prisci refused to do so. She had never experienced what parental love or sisterly affection meant.
She went to the living room, nced at Wesley, who was chatting happily with Dillon, and asked in a calm voice, “Can we go now?”
Dillon–frowned and thought Prisci was really tactless. Couldn’t she see he was having a good conversation with Wesley?
Tania who was quick to read the room immediately said, “I’ve asked the kitchen to prepare ate–night snack. Why don’t you eat before you leave?”
Prisci only looked at Wesley.
Wesley was already standing up. “Dad, let’s talk next time.”
Dillon immediately smiled and agreed, but then shot Prisci a fierce re.
Prisci turned to leave, but at that moment, someone gave her shoulder a hard shove.
Caught off guard, she fell backward, and was about to hit the ground.
A pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist from behind, then

steadied her by the shoulders, pulling her protectively into an embrace,
“ude, what are you doing?” Tania scolded, though her voicecked authority.
ude, who was furious, pointed at Prisci’s nose and shouted, “If you don’t want toe back, then don’t! You’re not wee in this
house.”
Prisci had regained her bnce. ncing at Larissa behind ude, she knew he once again stood up for Larissa.
He had always been powerless against Larissa’s tears.
Dillon was already dissatisfied with Prisci, and now, following ude’s lead, he scolded, “What have you done this time?”
Larissa stepped out from behind ude. Her eyes were red and swollen, with long hair draped over her shoulders. She looked especially pitiful.
Prisci could clearly feel that Wesley’s hand on her shoulder tightened a little.
A trace of mockery shed in her eyes. She shifted her feet and moved her shoulder out from Wesley’s hand.
Tania walked over to Larissa andforted her softly.
Seeing Prisci remain silent, Dillon’s expression grew even sterner. “I’m talking to you. What did you do to bully your sister this time?”
as
Prisci’s heart grew cold, and her voice was even colder. “Larissa, I received the invitation to Rafael’s farewell party long time ago. nothing to do with knowing Eldridge. Instead of crying here, youd be better improve your/perfumery skills, so you don’t embarrass yourself again in the future.”

This time, her words were even harsher.
It was just a minor argument but Larissa acted as if she had suffered great injustice.
Larissa leaned into Tania’s arms, sobbing softly. “Prisci…”
ude couldn’t bear to see his beloved sister cry and interrupted her. “Prisci, Larissa learned her perfumery skills from Catherine. How could someone like you who grew up in the countryside possiblypare?”
His words were full of contempt for Prisci.
They always imed to be family but in private, they still looked down on her for growing up in the countryside.
She curled her lips in self–mockery. “Of course I can’tpare. After all, I was born to my parents but never raised by them. Let alone had the chance to learn from some master.”
It was the truth but it struck a nerve with Dillon.
Dillon flew into a rage raised his hand and swang it at Prisci’s face.
Prisci felt utterly hopeless.
But the p didn’tnd on Prisci’s face–itnded on the back of Wesley’s head.
Everyone was stunned.
Tania was terrified. This was the heir to the Carlton family, and even if he was their son–inw, he was not someone you could justy and

on.

“Why are you getting in the way, child?”

Prisci stared up at Wesley in shock. She never expected that Wesley would step in to take the blow for her.
And judging by the sound, Dillon had used a lot of force with that p.
Her eyes turned red at the corners and tears welledup in her gaze. Her lips trembled a few times, but she couldn’t get a singleplete
sentence out.
Dillon came to his senses and hurriedly told the driver to take Wesley to the hospital.
Wesley was half leaning on Prisci and felt a bit dizzy.
When they arrived at the hospital, Wesley was taken for an examination.
Prisci stared nkly at the light above the examination room and her heart was filled with a jumble of emotions.
Back then, Wesley had clearly cared about Larissa. Wasn’t it exactly what he wanted for her to be hit?
So why did hee over?
“Prisci.” Dillon, for once, called his daughter’s name gently. “I have something to say to you.”
