“What’s the name of thatpany again?”

“The Carillon Group.” Corrine reminded her. “They had a hit perfume earlier this year.”

Ever since the Carlton Groupunched the Holiday Series, they had pretty much taken over half the perfume market for nearly two years. But in the first half of this year, a new yer came out of nowhere–the Carillon Group.

One of their perfumes made it into the top three in sales, and Prisci remembered it well.

“Since you’ve quit your job, why not give it a shot? It’ll keep you from sitting around overthinking stuff.” Corrine said. “I still have his card. I can reach out for you.”

Prisci thought it over and agreed.

Corrine found the card and got in touch with the man, setting up a meeting for the next morning.

Prisci was cool with it. She figured she could go to the meeting and then head straight to the airport. The timing worked out perfectly.

    ***

Prisci and Corrine got to the restaurant right on time.

The CEO of the Carillon Group, Eldridge Livingston, turned out to be a young man. He was strikingly handsome, with a bold mop of fiery red hair that made him stand out, full of youthful energy.

He talked a lot, trying hard to convince Prisci how amazing hispany was and promising a big sry

But Prisci wasn’t into the money. She cared about whether thepany could make good stuff. When she heard that the hit perfume from earlier this year was something he had mixed up himself, she finally got interested.

Still, she didn’t give him a clear answer on the spot. Instead, she said she wanted to check out thepany first.

Eldridge immediately agreed, set another time to meet, and then left after paying the bill.

“Pretty good, right?” Corrine linked arms with Prisci as they walked out. “I did my homework. Thepany is legit, and the boss is solid.”

She wanted Prisci to bounce back.

Men? The most disposable thing on earth, in her opinion.

Prisci was moved by her warmth and smiled faintly. “Alright…”

Before she could finish, a bunch of people suddenly rushed over.

Prisci, still spooked from her kidnapping, instinctively stepped back. “Ci.” Corrine steadied her, holding her by the shoulders.

The group had reached her, with cameras and microphones almost in her face.

“Did you know Mr. Carlton and Ms. Larissa are on a business trip together?”

“Is Mr. Carlton having an affair?”

“Did you resign from the Carlton Group because of the affair?”

A barrage of cutting questions came flying at Prisci. Her face turned pale, and all she could think was that Wesley was traveling with Larissa.

    He took Larissa with him.

“Mrs. Carlton. why aren’t you talking? Is it true that there’s trouble in your marriage?”

“Is Mr. Carlton having an affair with your sister?”

    “Mrs. Carlton, please say something.”

Prisci’s head was buzzing. The relentless questioning was so loud and overwhelming that it made her nerves throb, and she couldn’t even get a word out.

She just stood there, frozen like a statue.

As she wasn’t talking, the reporters got even closer, all trying to get some scoop from her

By the time Corrine tried to stop them, it was toote. Prisci got pushed the ground.

A sharp pain surged through her ankle, leaving her unable to stand.

Yet the reporters refused to back down.

Corrine got mad. She grabbed the closest camera and smashed it on the ground. Then she kicked one of the reporters who was trying to drag Prisci.

“What do you think you’re doing?” she shouted, shielding Prisci If you have questions, go ask Wesley. You think it’s brave to gang up on ady? You’re nothing but trash!”

The reporter whose camera got smashed was furious and demandedpensation.

The situation got totally out of control.
