Selina was in possession of the emerald bracelet, and she had no ns of returning it so easily.
She kept bringing Zacharias up, a deliberate reminder to Jonathan that Anneliese was still
another man’s wife.
Not a word of it did Anneliese believe.
She smiled coldly. “Is that so?”
“Of course, Anne. If you don’t believe me, just give him a call right now.”
She had felt his phone in his pocket when he jumped into the pool to save Anneliese.
It was waterlogged now, and she wasn’t worried about Anneliese actually making the call.
Anneliese frowned.
Selina’s eyes reddened slightly, though her smile stayed helpless and sweet.
“Anne, you’re free to search my room if you still don’t believe me.”
She then added, “I have plenty of new jewelry, and you can have anything you like.”
Hearing this, Anneliese was certain the bracelet wouldn’t be found.
Too ill and weary to argue any further, she dismissed the woman coldly.

Selina looked hurt.
“I know you don’t like me, which is why you hate the people and things around me,” she answered in a low voice.
Her words carried a hidden meaning, and she looked at Jonathan while she spoke.

She had looked forward to today’s birthday banquet, yet it ended in such disgrace.
Over the next two weeks, the White family would be the butt of the joke within their circle.
