“Annie, I’m fine. Just calm down, alright?”

Jessica rushed to the bedside, settling on the edge as she helped Anneliese sit upright.

Zacharias stood nearby, his expression tight as he watched Anneliese lean against Jessica, struggling to steady her breathing. His voice came out rough, almost hoarse.

“Anne, didn’t you notice Jessica shoving me into the pool, tearing at my clothes, and hurling sarcasm at me? All I did was shake her off–and your response was to scald me with boiling water?”

Jessica’s re cut across the room like a de.

“With how you always put your side chick first, you’re lucky all I did was kick you, and Annie only sshed water on you. How dare you stand here and act like the victim?”

Anneliese drew in a long breath and finally lifted her gaze to Zacharias. Her eyes were sharp, clear, and merciless.

    “You did this to yourself.”

That cial look made Zacharias swallow the bitterness rising in his chest. He forced his voice low.

“Can you ask her to step out? I want to speak with you alone.”

Anneliese had already intended to bring up the divorce. She grabbed Jessica’s hand before Jessica lost her temper.

    “Jess.”

Jessica shot Zacharias a distrustful nce, then rose, tucked the nket carefully around Anneliese, and warned, “I’ll be right outside. If he so much as tries anything, just yell.”

Anneliese’s lips curved faintly as she nodded.

Watching the two women treat him like a brute, Zacharias‘ handsome features twisted with frustration.

As soon as the door shut, he crouched slightly, reaching as if to take Anneliese’s hand.

But before he could get close, she cut him off. “Stay where you are.”

Zacharias‘ fists tightened, though he fought to keep hisposure. She was burning with fever -he didn’t want to agitate her further.

“Anne,” he began, voice urgent, “I was going to save you, I swear. You and Selina were both in red dresses. I thought it was you, but when I reached her, she clung to me and wouldn’t let go. I

Anneliese’s cold, unwavering voice sliced through his exnation.

“Zacharias, tomorrow morning at nine, I’ll be waiting outside City Hall. Let’s get a divorce.”

The timing was almost cruel–finalizing their separation right after the White family’s dinner banquet.

Zacharias‘ frown deepened, his eyes growing cial.

Pressing a hand to his throbbing temples, he muttered, “You’re feverish and not thinking clearly. I’ll go get the doctor for you.”

He turned toward the door, but Anneliese’s sudden shout froze him in his tracks.

“Zacharias! Running away won’t solve anything. I’m not delirious–I know exactly what I’m saying.”

He spun back, his eyes zing with anger.

“Enough! Stop it. I understand you’re furious because I saved Selina instead of you, but must you bring up divorce every single time?

“Haven’t I endured enough? You’ve been cozying up to Jonathan, even hugging him in front of everyone tonight, and I let it slide.

“And as for Selina- that recording you yed was fake. I didn’t even call you out on it. So, what more do you want from me?”

When the recording first yed, Zacharias almost believed it was real.

But he had already reviewed the security footage from that day. He remembered it vividly-

When Anneliese stepped out of the elevator and paused outside his office, her hands were empty. There was no phone.

Anneliese’s lips curved into a cold, restrained smile.

“Yeah, the recording’s fake. I created it. But tell me–was a single word of it untrue?

“And you actually expect me to be grateful just because you didn’t expose me right then? Honestly, Zacharias, your standards couldn’t be lower.”

His breath quickened as he stared at her in silence.

Anneliese had no interest in going in circles again. They’d argued like this far too many times; it was exhausting, meaningless.

She picked up her phone, tapped the screen, and tossed it onto the bed in front of him.

    “Watch this first.”

Zacharias frowned, lifted the phone, and pressed y.

The footage appeared–a freshly recorded clip of Anneliese being shoved off the second–floor terrace into the pool.

The video showed their heated argument clearly.

Selina and Anneliese shed, tumbling against the railing—

But then Zacharias seized Selina, steadied her, and shoved Anneliese into the water.

Veins strained against his forehead as he clenched the phone so tightly it seemed on the verge of breaking.

When the clip ended, he swiped to the next.

This time, the footage captured him dragging Selina safely out of the pool.

Anneliese’s smile sharpened. “Do you see it clearly now? First, there’s the leaked audio of uderias Tech’s founder, Mr. Shaw, sabotaging rivals and securing funding illegally.

“Then we have Mr. Shaw cheating with the White family’s fake heiress, shielding her crimes, and even attempting to murder his own wife at a dinner party to protect his mistress. Tell me, doesn’t that make quite a headline?”
