The guests murmured among themselves, every gaze snapping toward her, and Sonya’s face flushed crimson.
Anneliese tapped her chin with a finger, her eyes sweeping over Selina and the rest of the White family. “What other truths are there? Let me think.”
Then, her gazended squarely on Christopher. “My dear brother, that little starlet udia Brent you’ve been parading around? She’s been ying threesomes with the assistant director and the third male lead in that little nest you bought her. Do you know the pair of horns you’re wearing is sorge and tall?”
Christopher’s eyes bulged, stunned beyond belief, whileughter and snickers rippled all around. In that moment, he truly felt as if a pair of horns had grown atop his head.
Anneliese raised her voice again. “And since everyone is so curious about what really happened to me back then, I might as well spell it out today.”
Instantly, Selina’s expression shifted, and the White family’s faces darkened with fury and impatience. Yet beneath the surface, their stiffened posture and flickers of panic betrayed them.
Christopher finally snapped out of his daze, fury surging as the whispers around him grew. “udia Brent? I don’t even know her! I don’t know what nonsense you’re spouting!”
Timothy’s voice cut in, deep and angry. “Anneliese, haven’t you caused enough trouble already?”
Selina’s eyes were wide with anxious pleading. “Anne, today is Mom’s birthday. All these guests are here. If you have some misunderstanding or grudge, we’ll settle it all in private upstairs, alright? Don’t embarrass the family like this.”
Mnie’s expression was stricken, her face pale as she looked at Anneliese with heartbreak. Perseus, meanwhile, shoved forward and grabbed Anneliese by the arm, yanking hard to drag her upstairs. “You’re making a fool of yourself. Move!”
His grip was brutal, pletely heedless of whether he might hurt her. The scene dissolved into chaos. Guests, seeing the family all deny her ims, naturally began to doubt her words- especially since Anneliese’s reputation was already far from spotless.
Selina lowered her gaze, lips curling with disdain. Anneliese really is reckless and foolish.
Anneliese struggled. “Let go of me!”

When her face turned pale, Zacharias shook off Melody and Lenora and strode over. “Perseus, let her go! I’ll take her upstairs.” He mped down on Perseus‘ hand, brows drawn tight, his eyes shing a sharp warning.
Perseus hesitated. With Zacharias‘ standing and the White family’s current financial troubles, they still hoped to negotiate funding with him that night. After a beat, he released Anneliese.
Zacharias immediately reached to steady her. “Anne, are you alright?”
But Anneliese’s shoulders stiffened as she leaned away from his touch. She ignored his concern and raised her voice again. “I just brought up my ident from back then, and suddenly everyone looked guilty, desperate to shut me up and drag me away. Doesn’t that say something?”
At that, her gaze swept the crowd. “Isn’t anyone curious?”
The room buzzed louder, voices low but insistent.
Timothy’s face was stormy. Mnie’s brows pinched together. Selina’s nails dug into her palm, her anger only rising at Zacharias‘ choice to side with Anneliese, letting her stand there spewing what she saw as baseless lies.
But Selina knew Anneliese had no proof. Even if she spoke the truth, Selina was confident she could twist it so everyone would believe Anneliese was ndering her on purpose.
Anneliese really is the biggest fool. To stir this up here, without a shred of evidence, only makes her look vulgar, jealous, and unhinged.
Selina sighed softly as she stepped forward. “Anne, after Mom’s birthday, I’ll leave Oceaton, alright? Please don’t be angry anymore.”
She flipped the narrative just like that, casting Anneliese’s outburst as nothing but jealousy- her desire to chase Selina out of Oceaton.
With that motive in everyone’s minds, no matter what Anneliese said, the guests wouldn’t believe her.
Selina lowered her head, her whole demeanor tinged with sorrow and reluctant humility. Mnie’s heart ached at the sight; she rushed forward and hugged Selina, tears spilling as she turned to Anneliese. “Anne, I love you, but Selina is my daughter too. Why can’t you tolerate her? Must you ruin my birthday like this? Please, I’m begging you…”
As the birthday woman, Mnie’s tears sealed the crowd’s judgment.
“So that’s what this was about–she just didn’t want her sister back.”

“Mrs. White is her real mother. How could she possibly wrong her?”
“Such a narrow mind, so full of spite and lies.”
“She grew up in the slums, and it shows. You can’t change rotten roots.”

“Causing a scene like this on her own mother’s birthday–disgraceful. No wonder everyone says she’ll never measure up to Selina.”
