Jonathan loosened two buttons on his shirt, deliberately exposing the line of his neck and corbone. He turned left and right in front of the mirror, studying himself for a long while. Then he found an angle, pulled out his phone, and snapped two quick photos.

    “Which one looks better?”

    Sorry? Zion blinked. <i>My </i><i>workaholic </i><i>boss </i><i>is </i><i>suddenly </i><i>anxious </i><i>about </i>his <i>looks </i><i>at </i><i>the </i><i>crack </i><i>of </i><i>dawn</i>?

As exasperated as he was, Zion still did his duty. He took the phone andpared the shots carefully. “Mr. Fullbuster, with a face like yours, every picture looks good. But if I really have to pick, then maybe this one?”

Jonathan nced at the photo Zion chose, dismissed it as basic guy taste, deleted it, and sent the other one straight to Anneliese.

    Zion was speechless. <i>Unbelievable</i><i>. </i><i>First </i><i>thing </i><i>in </i><i>the </i><i>morning</i><i>, </i><i>he </i><i>ys </i><i>me </i><i>like </i><i>an </i>idiot <i>and </i><i>unts </i><i>his </i><i>love </i><i>life</i><i>. </i><i>Sending </i><i>coy</i><i>, </i><i>half</i><i>–</i><i>revealing </i><i>selfies</i><i>–</i><i>how </i><i>did </i><i>I </i><i>never </i><i>notice </i><i>before </i><i>that </i><i>my </i><i>boss </i><b><i>has </i></b><i>such </i><i>natural </i><i>talent </i><i>for </i><i>being </i><i>the </i><i>teasing </i><i>angelic </i><i>b</i><i>*</i><i>tch </i><i>type</i><i>? </i>

Anneliese was brushing her teeth at the sink when the photo came through. She absentmindedly unlocked her phone, tapped the image, and nearly choked on her mouthwash.

    <i>“</i><i>Cough</i><i>, </i><i>cough</i><i>!</i><i>” </i>

She quickly rinsed and wiped her face before looking at the photo again. No mistake—it was Jonathan himself. That wless profile, the sharp jawline, the tall, manding posture, even when standing casually. It was definitely him.

But what on earth was he doing sending her a bare–neck, bare–corbone selfie first thing in the morning?

    She started typing.

‘Mr. Fullbuster, did someone hack your ount?‘

    No<i>, </i><i>delete </i><i>that</i><i>. </i>

‘So handsome! Want me to help check your outfit?‘

    <i>No</i><i>, </i><i>no</i>, not good <i>either</i><i>. </i>

She kept deleting and rewriting, unable to settle on a reply, when Jonathan’s message arrived first.

“The bruises don’t look obvious, right? I have an important meeting today. No need to wear a mask, correct?‘

    Relieved, Anneliese patted her chest. <i>So </i><i>that’s </i><i>what </i><i>this </i><i>was </i><i>about</i>.

She erged the photo, focusing on the side of his face where the bruise had been. His body’s ability to heal was astonishing–the swelling and redness fromst night had almost vanished.

She was about to reply when she noticed her fingers had lingered, erged right over his corbone and the small dark mole at his throat. At once, the dream fromst night shed back, and she nearly dropped her phone in guilty panic. She fumbled to close the image.

Another notification chimed. Anneliese looked–and her mind went nk.

    ‘So handsome! Want to‘

She froze. The half–deleted message she had typed earlier had somehow been sent, leaving behind a terribly ambiguous line.

    <i>Oh </i><i>no</i><i>, </i><i>oh </i><i>no</i><i>. </i><i>How </i><i>do </i><i>I </i><i>even </i><i>exin </i><i>this</i><i>? </i>She spun in circles in the bathroom, mortified.

Meanwhile, Jonathan stepped into the elevator. He looked down at his phone, watching her typing indicator blink nonstop, and the corners of his lips curved.

The elevator stopped at Anneliese’s floor. He stepped out.

    ‘Open the door.

Before she could figure out how to exin, another message popped up. She remembered he had saidst night he would bring breakfast.

She rushed to the door, peeked through the peephole, then braced herself and opened it.

Facing the man from the photo, tall and striking in person, Anneliese forced a nervous smile. “Um, about that message earlier…”

Jonathan arched a brow, waiting for her exnation.

Just then, her phone rang. “Come in first, I’ll take this call,” she said quickly.

On the screen shed the caller ID: Trash No. 3.

From his height, Jonathan caught sight of it and smirked faintly. “Haunted again?”

Anneliese gave him a sheepish smile and answered the call.

Selina’s soft, delighted voice chimed through. “Anne, did you get the evening gown I had couriered over? Mother chose it herself for you. Tomorrow is her birthday banquet, and you muste. I want to introduce you to someone. He’s the one I like. Zacharias is excellent, butpared to him, n
