But what did that mean? she thought.

Jonathan watched her freeze, her eyes wide with confusion. The tension in his chest loosened.
He leaned back, shut his eyes like nothing mattered, and let a faint smile curl at the edge of his mouth.
Forget it.
She was too charming for him to stay angry.
“Uh… Annie?”
Anneliese pressed her fingers to her forehead. Her heart skipped when she caught the unreadable curve of his smile.
She pushed the thought away. Before she could dwell on it, Jessica’s voice called from behind.
Anneliese exhaled with relief and turned. They had already nned to meet at the airport.
The scene turns to the terminal building.
“Babe, I swear–I never thought I’d fly private!”
Jessica dashed forward and hugged her tight, practically shaking with excitement.
Annelieseughed. “What’s the big deal? It’s my first time too!”
They both burst outughing.
“Ms. ude, Ms. Sweeting, this way, please. We’re ready for boarding.”
Zion stepped up with a polished smile.

“Already?”
:
Jessica looked around as if she’d stumbled into a magic trick.
No check–in. No lines. Just fast and seamless.
She was thrilled.

At this rate, they might even get to Riveraton in time for some food before the meeting.
Anneliese was equally surprised.
She walked beside Zion and asked, “Is it always this easy to get a private flight cleared?”
Zion exined, “Normally, even with priority clearance, it takes a full business day.
“But AeroAir has been expanding its private and charter division for the luxury market.
“And ever since Mr. Fullbuster came back, he’s opened new channels. Things move faster now. Most airlines can’t do this.”
Today, Zion had one job: to make sure Jonathan impressed Anneliese. He was ready to roll out the red carpet–quietly.
What he didn’t mention was that Jonathan had already pulled strings behind the
scenes.
As they walked toward the exit, Jessica frowned. “Wait, we’re not using the boarding gate?”
“That’s correct,” Zion replied. “The jet’s parked at a remote stand. A car will take us straight to the tarmac.”
“Oh… wow.”
So, she had been waiting in the wrong ce the whole time.

Perfect. Now she just wanted to wrap Annie up and hand her straight to Jonathan. Forget the steps, let her enjoy the good life already.
No. Stop.
She could not sell out her best friend for a taste of luxury. Just two more days. She could wait.
Jessica leaned toward Anneliese. “Hey, you think Mr. Fullbuster’s flying us himself?”
“I doubt it. He’s headed to a meeting, not ying chauffeur.”
Jessica wasn’t convinced. She was sure Jonathan’s sudden appearance wasn’t just a chance.
Zion might have shown Anneliese some official itinerary, but Jessica believed Jonathan came just for her.
“Wanna bet? He’s flying the ne. I’m calling it.”
She winked.
When a guy liked a girl, he showed off.
That was just nature.
No way Jonathan Fullbuster was different–unless he wasn’t interested in Anneliese that way.
“I’m not betting with you. You sound ridiculous.”
Anneliese gave her a light push and lowered her voice. “Stop, Mr. Hand might hear.”
Jessica grinned but kept quiet.
When the car slowed on the tarmac, Zion turned from the front seat.

“Mr. Fullbuster owns three private jets—a Gulfstream G700, an Airbus ACJ350, and
a Cessna CJ2 for short trips.”
He nced at Anneliese. What woman wouldn’t be impressed by that?
If he weren’t tied to this assistant role, he would’ve made a move on his boss.
Anneliese’s eyes brightened. “So, since it’s just the two of us, are we taking the CJ2 today?”
Yes. That spark. That look.
She was caught, even if she didn’t realize it yet.
Zion silently congratted himself and was about to answer with ir when she suddenly asked, her eyes curious,
“I’ve heard the CJ2 meets ICAO Chapter 10 noise standards, and they’re way quieter than older jets. The engines are mounted on the tail, right? From the side or back, they’re pretty visible. Do you think I could look before takeoff? Or maybe not. Forget I asked, Mr. Hand.”
Her words trailed off when she caught Zion’s t expression.
He was drained. This wingman role wasn’t for him. Winning over a woman with iron walls like Anneliese? That was Jonathan’s job alone.
