He nodded, all his rage dissolving into tenderness. “No matter how long you need, I’ll wait. Aubrey, don’t ever forget–I’ll always be here by your side.”
Aubrey lowered her gaze and murmured assent. And for the first time in days, the weight in her chest seemed to ease a little.
After dinner, Aubrey returned to theb for more work, until Perry appeared at the door.
She blinked. “There’s news?<b>” </b>
He nodded, then shook his head. “About what you asked. I’ve heard the forest witch of the southern continent might have the potion you’re looking for. But she’s elusive–hard to track down. I’ll need more time to confirm.”
“That’s fine. Keep following the lead.” Aubrey nodded, though she didn’t let herself hope too much. After that, Perry continued, “Also–your father is here. He’s waiting in the study.”
