“What do you mean I can’t see him? I told you this is very important to me. What do you not understand?” I asked, quickening my pace as I walked down the Hallway, my fingers curled by my
side.
“I’m sorry, ma’am, but you can’t go inside.” Thedy tried to stop me. I halted on my path and turned quickly towards her. “What do you mean?‘ I asked, enunciating each word, so she gets the point that I am not joking around.
If I don’t get the answers I need from here, then, this ce might as well close down right now. I will not allow anyone to mess with the people I love.
Mia had been at this bar yesterday, and she was harassed; she tried to put up a fight and was beaten up by a customer. The manager saw the incident and chose to send Mia away without stepping in when he should have. He probably thought she had no one else behind her, and he could step all over her to cover the crimes of the man whose reputation he wanted to protect.
It took me three hours to get the correct bar, since Mia had refused to tell me the bar, knowing I won’t sit still, but you can’t me me. Who would be able to sit still in this type of situation?
She came to workte, which was unlike her. That was the first sign that something was wrong with her. Then she had a bandage on her head. I sent her to the hospital immediately and finally got a clear exnation of what happened from her.
“Ma’am, I’m sorry, the manager doesn’t want to meet with you.” Thedy who looked like she was in bed early thirties stated. She was wearing a ck skirt and a white button–down with the name of
the bar inscribed on the shirt.
I looked around the bar at the few people that were there and inhaled slowly, wanting to keep my calm. I closed my eyes, and the image of Mia’s injury floated in my head, worsening my feelings. “Then bring me to the next person in charge.” I requested.
“No one is in charge here. It’s all me.” She pointed at herself.” I scoffed and crossed my hand over the other, suddenly regretting the fact that I had left my phone in the hospital. I would have made
some calls.
“If you don’t tell those scary cats toe down right this moment, I’ll ensure they never open this bar again. You see, I’m not scared of causing a scene; I believe in this matter, you are more at a disadvantage.”
Thedy chewed her bottom lip, a look of confusion etched on her brow. “Wait here.” She said and disappeared through a walkway at the side. She appeared a few minutester and said, “Follow me.”
I did. We walked through a hallway for a few minutes before finally stopping in front of a door. She

A cloud of smoke covered my view, obstructing me from seeing the man’s face for a while. I waved them with my hand, trying so hard not to choke on the smoke.
The girl gave me a pitiful look before she stepped out of the room, leaving me alone with the man, but I was in too much rage to even care. I could finally make out his face after a few minutes.
He had a fat wrap of cigarettes between his fingers. He is resting in the chair and swaying it from side to side. His eyes are red, and his face distant and expressionless.
‘You wanted to see me? Why?” His voice was just like I imagined it to be, deep.
‘I want the information on the man who beat up my friend.” I paused studying his face to see how he would react to my request. But his face was the same.
Who is he, his name, that’s the only thing I needed, and also CCTV footage of what happenedst night.”
Last night, I went out to meet Marcus and ended up taking an unnned walk with Mason. My phone was with me, but I didn’t know when I rang. Mia called me three times, and I didn’t take any. Thinking about it made me feel guilty. If I had taken her call, then she would be fine and not have
wo weeks to recover.
‘Why should I give a stranger my customer’s personal information? Who do you think you are?”
‘My friend was harassed and then assaulted at your bar. She is currently in the hospital receiving reatments, and the only thing you can do to show you care is protecting the name of the jerk who put her in that position and making sure he pays for everything.”
Augh sound reverberated all through the room. He quashed the butt of the cigarette on the ashtray on the table and looked up at me, “You are a funny youngdy.” He remarked, and I awaited my shoulders.
“Am I? That’s for thepliment, though I’d prefer we stick to the matter at hand.” I said, and he rose from his seat. He was twice my size.
“So, your friend came to my bar and was assaulted, and you…” He pointed to me, his eyes dangling with excitement, “You thought it was a good idea toe here alone“, he emphasised thest word, “to request justice for her. Where do you think this ce is? A court?” His voice was sharp, ced with mockery.
“I expect you to be reasonable and do the right thing.” I refused to be intimidated. He grabbed a ss of drink from the table and downed it in one go.
Looking down at the now–empty cup, he lifted his eyes and held my gaze. “Your friend was being stubborn. In this bar, there are ranks. She crossed the line and had to put her in ce. There’s nothing wrong with that, although I’d advise you to talk to her next time and put her in ce.” He
