Chapter 119
Lydia
Over half the audience now has their attention towards us. I don’t care, I will not be embarrassed by this cheap slut in front of everyone, overt a man I had no interest in keeping anymore.
Julia ced one hand on her cheek, “You p me? You mother fuckerr, you are just an ex–wife, how dare you raise your hand at me?” She screamed like a manic and raised her hand to p me.
I caught her arm midair and threw it to the side beforending another p across her cheeks.
“I told you to apologise.” I narrowed my eyes at her, stepping closer to her. If she wants to cause a scene, then two can y the game. Right now, I don’t care about those looking around or anything.
“Not only did you try to break my rtionship, but you have the nerve to p me?”
“And I won’t hesitate to do so again. If you weren’t taught manners, I’m d to help your Mom do her job.” I squared my shoulder and puffed out my chest a bit, daring her to bring it on..
“I’ll sue you for assault.” She said, holding her face. “You will not get away with this, at all.”
“What is going on here?” That’s Mason’s voice. He cut through the crowd that was now beginning to form. “What are you doing?” He questioned Julia.
Julia fell into his chest, her shoulders shaking, “She hit me.” I passed my hand over my hair as I watched Mason wrap his hand around her without looking at me. He held her face and turned it to both sides, observing it.
Not able to stand them anymore, I turned and walked away. I had nowhere in mind. I had gone further before realising that this direction didn’t lead to the entrance or the exit.
Ignoring the attention thrown at me, I forged on. Thest thing I wanted was to return to that ce or witness the sore sight of Mason doting on pitiful–looking Julia.
Luckily, I found a door, pushed it open, and walked right out. I stepped onto a veranda. Who knew that behind this entire drama was a veranda? It wasn’t a big space. It could fit at least ten people. Even with the doors closed, I could hear the music andughter from the hall.
Well, I had it all to myself, that’s all that mattered. I closed the door behind me. A cool breeze hit my face, and I wrapped my hand over myself. I suddenly regretted choosing an off–shoulder dress.
My chest is ramming against my chest, and I tried to steady it. I drew in arge breath and released it slowly.
In.
Out.
I didn’t keep a check on the time I spent there.,
There are times when some people will sessfully pull out the part of you you’ve strived so hard to keep hidden. Julia is an example. When
I left the office earlier with Mia, I never thought I’d end up putting on a show for everyone.
Thanks to Julia, they have something to feast on tonight and probably for the next few days.
Thinking about Mia, it finally urred to me that she wasn’t in the hall earlier. Granted, not everyone in the hall witnessed the ugly scene, but the Mia I know would run to me at even the slightest difort she thought I felt. So it felt weird not seeing her with me.
Thankfully, I had my phone with me.
I didn’t get to call her since the door opened at that moment, and Julia stepped onto the veranda. How the fuck did she got her 2 canter stay away from me?
“You must be obsessed with
me.”
“This is where you are hiding? Why did you run? Too afraid to face the crowd now that your stupid fantasy is out in the open?”
I didn’t respond to her; instead, I kept my eyes ahead, looking at the beautiful view in front of me. From where I stood, I was able to see most of the hotel. Since it was dark, pools of light reflected from all corners.
“I’m speaking to you.” Her footsteps came closer, “Pretending to be dumb now?” She said.
She grabbed my shoulder, and I turned away from her touch, which made my skin crawl.
“Please, can’t you let Mason be? What good will it do you if he abandons our child because of you?”
A child? She knew better.
“You must be painted that you didn’t get to have children for him, it’s not my fault I got to give him a son, and you couldn’t after being married to him for years.”
I fist my palm, trying to hold myself back from saying what I wanted to say.
“I’m beginning to wonder if you didn’t t get pregnant during your marriage because you were barren.”
Okay, that was the line. I faced her fully now, one side of my lips lifted. I couldn’t help the smile. She squinted, and whispered, “psycho. What’s wrong with you? Finally showing your mad side?”
It was my turn to taunt her. “I think you should talk to me about barrenness when you get pregnant.”
She squared her shoulders and ced one hand on her stomach, running it lovingly, “I am pregnant.”
“No, I mean, a real pregnancy, not a fake one.” I blinked, and my entire face morphed into a full smile. “Oh, sorry!” I closed my lips with a palm, mock anxiety etched on my face, “That was supposed to be a secret.”
Her eyes widened, “What are you talking about?” She tried to sound confident, but her shaky voice exposed her.
Strands of hair dance around my face. I brushed it off, “You know what I am talking about.” I said, taking another step forward. “Julia, are you really pregnant?”
“Of course. I am pregnant, I carry Mason’s child.”
“But I don’t think a doctor would think so. If Mason takes you to the hospital, what will the doctor say?” I took another step, so we were now a few inches away from each other.
I leaned towards her ear, “At least, I didn’t lie to him about being pregnant just to get him to marry me.” I whispered intu froze. She pushed me backwards.
I smirked.
ear, and she
“So? What if I am not pregnant? What if I lied about being pregnant just to get him in my life, it doesn’t change the fact that we are engaged!
“And you think Mason will keep the engagement if he finds out you are deceiving him and his family?” I asked.

“Of course. His Mom already knows. He wille around somehow, no matter what, you are still at a loss she pushed her hate fal tucked some strands behind her ear.
“Stay away from Mason.” She wagged a trembling finger at me. It was evident that the fact that I knew about this ced her on edes
“I don’t care if you tell Mason, with or without a child, Mason is mine.” She turned, finally leaving
g with her madness.
She grabbed the doorknob and yanked it open. I turned away, grateful she was finally leaving. A loud gasp escaped her throat, and I turned She stepped backwards. The door widened, and a shallow stepped in.
“M…Mason, w…why are yo..ou here?” Julia was visibly shaken by Mason’s arrival.
I was stunned by Mason, too, and from the way his face looked drained of all colors and emotions, it was clear he heard us.
Oh shit, I never intended for him to hear. I don’t care if he found out, I just didn’t want to be involved in it in any way.
“Your pregnancy is a lie?” He asked in a low voice.
“I can exin, listen to me, mas-”
“You were never pregnant!”
“Well, I think I need to excuse myself,” I said under my breath and tried to sneak out, leaving the two of them to go talk about it, but Mason suddenly grabbed my hands.
“What are you..?”
“Giving you privacy, which you obviously need,” I said without trying to pull away. I turned to look at Julia with a satisfactory smirk on my
face.
“I’ve been looking for you. Let’s talk.”
“I don’t think I’m the one you should be talking to,” Mason said, his eyes soft when he stared at me. I averted my gaze to Julia, whose hands were clenched. Her jaws flexed.
??? ?????? ?????????? ??
“I have nothing to talk to Julia about. I’ve broken up with her already. Although I feel betrayed and used, I’m also a bit relieved.” He turned to her. “We are done. I also need to leave this ce, so let’s go.”
Mason pulled me out. We tookrge strides. Julia was beside us in a second, begging Mason to give her a chance to exin and confess her love for him.
Everyone’s attention now turned to us. Julia was really giving them another drama for their entertainment.
She walked towards the front of us and spread her hands apart, “No,” she yelled, and the music stopped. “You can’t leave with her. I will never allow you to.”
