I am already having the worst time of my life, and Julia is thest person I want to see right now. I crossed my hand over my chest, stepping forward, “Why are you here?” I questioned, then shook my head.
No, that is not the right question. “How did you get in here?” Why was she allowed inside?
“Surprised?” She asked, smirking. She is dressed in a ck dress and holds a ck purse. “I had toe since it seems you don’t want to heed my warning, Lydia.”
She sat on the couch. “I never asked you to sit.” My voice is low. I am trying all I can to keep calm, but this ingrate keeps pushing me.
“How rude, you don’t expect a’pregnant woman to stand because you are standing,” she looked around my office. “I can guess you know why I am here. You did receive my warning, right?”
I squinted.
Was she the one who sent the bouquet to me? The bouquet is still on my table. Her eyes shifted towards it at that moment, “Lovely bouquet you’ve got there.”
“It was you?” I couldn’t hide the disbelief in my voice. She sent me the roses, why?
She knows about the twins, which was something I didn’t want to ept. How did she know? Was she watching us that day?
“I warned you to leave Mason, but you don’t want to.” She opened her purse and mmed a brown envelope on the table. “Why can’t you move on? I know Mason is a good–looking man and he is highly irritable,” she paused and then continued, “but he is engaged and I am pregnant with his child.” She ced one hand on her stomach and rubbed it.
“I know you can never understand this. After all, you’ve never been pregnant. But pregnant women tend to be possessive of their husbands; they don’t allow them to spend a minute with other women.”
She stopped speaking, raised her eyes, and red at me. Okay, she isn’t the one who sent the picture to me, but could it be that she received a picture of her own? What could be in the envelope?
“Open the envelope.” She said in amanding voice. I gritted my teeth, holding back my anger. Yes, I am curious, but there was no way I’d be pushed around by her. If she thinks she cane into my office to order me around, she has another thinging her way.
“I received that envelope today, I think you’d want to see the content too.” That finally got my attention, and I picked the envelope. I opened it to reveal a picture of Mason and me outside the restaurant where we had eaten. He was on his knees.
“I can’t think of any reason why Mason should be kneeling in front of you. What are you up to? You can’t fool me with your gentle look and
act.”
“That question should be for Mason, don’t you think?” I raised a brow, matching her intensity. “After all, he is the one kneeling,” I stated calmly, then walked back to my table, pulled out my chair, and sat on it.
That picture shouldn’t be seen by her. Mason promised he was going to make sure no one got it. How did it end up in Julia’s hand? Who else
has that picture?
“You truly have no shame, home wrecker. You want to ruin my rtionship with Mason, right? But guess what, whatever trick you are trying to pull won’t work.” Ifist my palm, anger rising to my throat.
“If you are that sure, I don’t think you’d be here showcasing your insecurities.” I was done speaking to her, “I’m done having this meaningless
conversation with you Leave I pointed to the door, “Don’t let the door hit you behind,” I said coldly.
She made no attempt to stand from her seat instead, she leaned into her chair and crossed one leg over the other. “I have no intention of doing that, I’ll only leave if you promise to stop showing up around my man” She looked determined.
“Fine, that means you don’t mind being dragged away. Totally good with me” I said and picked up my phone, “Mia, call security, I have an unwanted guest who has refused to leave.”
“Okay, ma’am, they’re there in three minutes,” Mia said and disconnected the call.
In less than three minutes, the door opened and two tall and burly security men stepped into the office. “Take her away?
Julia finally felt frightened. “Don’t you dare, don’t touch me.”
“Now,” Imanded. This was my territory; who the fuck did she think she was toe here and disy her madness?
They grabbed her and pulled her up. She struggled, “I’m a pregnant woman; if you don’t let me go right now, I’ll sue you.” They pulled her forward, “If anything happens to my baby, then you’ll pay, my fiancé will not let you go free.”
What baby? A nonexistent baby or what? If only she knew I was aware of the fact that there was nothing in her womb, she wouldn’t be bold enough to rub her fake pregnancy on my face.
The door opened at that moment, halting the process of Julia’s evacuation. Mason stepped into the office with wide eyes. He moved to Julia and pulled her away from the men. He furrowed his brows and looked in my direction.
Julia clung to him. I felt my chest tighten seeing her hold him. “What’s going on?” Mason asked. Both security men were also looking at me, waiting for my next instruction.
“You are finally here.” I moved my eyes away from him and turned on theptop in front of me. “Take your fiancé and get lost,” I ordered.
He failed to keep his promise of making sure a picture of him kneeling wouldn’t circte all over. ording to the agreement we had, that was enough to make him stop seeing the twins.
He moved away from Julia and walked forward, “I didn’te here for her. We need to talk.”
“No,” I lifted my eyes. There was no need to talk. I’ll figure out the reporter myself. For now, I wanted him and his whore out of my sight. “Just take your fiancé out, or I’ll have to remove both of you with force.”
He sighed in resignation before turning to Julia. “Let’s go.” He said, and walked out without holding her. Julia locked eyes with me, her lips curled up in a triumphant smile.
I returned it with a full smile.
The security men bowed to me before they left. I couldn’t concentrate throughout the rest of the day, so I sent a message to Marcus. Maybe we should have dinner today. “Can we meet today instead, and I have something to tell you?”
Marcus is someone I can confide in, I am sure if I tell him about this, he’d have an idea on how to go about it.
His reply came in immediately, “Sure, I’lle pick you up.” After settling the meeting with Marcus, I sent a text to Mason.
“You couldn’t keep your end of our agreement. I can’t allow you to see the twins anymore. You blew your chance.”
A call came in after five minutes. When Mason’s name was disyed on my screen, I ended the call.
He called again. I know he would keep calling unless I answered his call, so I did.
“My message is clear, what else do you want?”
“What do you mean? I have kept my own side of the bargain.” He stated.
“Have you? Then ask Julia about it.”
“Why was Julia there? Why didn’t you tell me she was there?” He questioned. He sounded frustrated, “I also had something I wanted to discuss with you.” He can save whatever he wants to say, I don’t need to hear.
“If you are so curious, why not ask Julia what she brought to my office earlier?”
“Is she the reason you are stopping me from seeing my kids?”
“Yes. And don’t call me anymore.” I ended the call.
There was a knock on my door. A few seconds passed before I said, “Come in.” The door opened slowly, and Mia stepped in.
“Why did you bother knocking? Did you suddenly grow character?” I questioned as she closed the door behind her and stepped forward.
“I didn’t know what mood you were in. But seeing you are trying to start a banter, I guess your mood isn’t as bad as I had expected.” She said, walking closer.
She stayed with me for over two hours before leaving. She listened as I spoke about how I felt. Julia and Mason were beginning to affect my mental health, and I can’t ept that.
Later that evening, Marcus came to pick me up as promised. “We’d be going in my car.” He said. I was too tired to argue, so I nodded.
He parked in front of the building. There was a figure in front of his car. He had his back towards us. I don’t need him to turn before I recognise him.
Why was he here? I made myself clear earlier. He finally turned and locked eyes with me.
“Lydia, we need to talk.”
